Hi All,

Mom and I went to see After the Sunset starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek and the Radisson Seven Seas Navigator!!! It was a good movie and the ship never looked better. We saw the Radisson lyre in lots of places. The ship's first scene was cruising in the lovely moonlit Caribbean. She looked gorgeous. Hey, Pierce and Salam looked pretty good, too!!!

One of the characters was even named "Navigator surveillance room guard #1." I got this info from my favorite movie website, http://www.imdb.com.

Who else has seen it? What do you all think?

Beth

Beth, what did you think of the movie? The movie guy on Headline News said it wasn't very good :( so I thought I might wait til it comes out on DVD.

Beth,

I just got back from seeing After the Sunset. I LOVED it!!! I'm a huge fan of both Pierce Brosnan and the Navigator. The movie was so much fun. It was adventurous, funny, beautiful location, beautiful people!!!

The first view of the Navigator that you mentioned reminded me of seeing her come into Sydney for our Australia/New Zealand cruise. She was all lit up, just like the movie. It brought back the excitement of my first cruise.

Even the cover of the Navigator brochure shown early on in the movie looked authenic.

Now I want to know - when can we get the DVD?????

Karen,

Just saw your post. Don't listen to the movie guy. Sure, it isn't Oscar winning material. But it is so much fun. You've got to go see it. The location alone is worth it. Filmed in Nassau, Bahamas. Great scenes in the Atlantis resort. And of course, seeing the Navigator is so exciting.

National Treasure is next on our list, too.

I have added this to my list of movies that I want to see. Dave sees more movies than I do. I usually see one or two a year! All of a sudden there are a ton I want to see. I also heard the movie review guys were killing Afetr the Sunset, so I was re-thinking it. How much was actually shot on the Navigator?

It is not near as good as Thomas Crown Affair. Woody Harrelson is his normal terrible self. It was great to see the Navigator and Atlantis.

I was surprised how little of the ship they showed. However, they were very realistic in the cruise "brochure;" it was formatted just like an RSSC brochure.

I would recommend the movie just to see the ship; but there are much better "caper" movies around.

Marc - I agree that it is not as good as Thomas Crown Affair. That is one of my favorites. And I too was hoping for more scenes on the Navigator. But is was still a lot of fun and a good way to spend a Sunday morning wishing you were cruising!!!

I agree, Cyndi, I thought it was a lot of fun to see a movie with a ship I've been on twice. Sure, it wasn't an Oscar movie. Marc, I thought Woody Harrelson's role was "the fool" roll he plays so well. Karen, movies are so much better on the big screen.

Hey, it's the Navigator!

We saw a sneak preview a couple of weeks ago. It was so much fun. Agree, it's not Oscar material but a light-hearted comedy. I told my husband that we had to see the movie because some day we will be cruising on the Navigator. (Of course, seeing Pierce B. is always a treat!) <img border="0" alt="[naughty]" title="" src="graemlins/naughty.gif" />
Don't wait for DVD - go to a matinee - just go!

The reviews in this area were brutal. But I'm planning to go anyway. If it's bad, I can entertain myself picking out favorite places on the ship and "admiring the view" of Pierce Brosnan. And my movie buddy has already displayed an excess of enthusiasm for enjoying whatever role Salma Hayek is playing.

Bill and I saw it yesterday afternoon and both enjoyed it. (It sure took our minds off our gray chilly November day in Michigan!) At dinner Bill asked me what I thought of Pierce's scruffy look. I replied that I didn't think we had equally fair viewing treats (I like Pierce better clean shaven). Selma is drop dead gorgeous.

I have not seen the movie yet- Thanksgiving day or the day after we shall see it! We were on the Marnier last Dec. when this was being filmed. I got this e-mail today and wanted to share it with LCT. It is great PR for Seven Seas, but what I am reading above, it looks like most of the ship filming did not the big screen!

A STAR IS BORN: SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR MAKES MOVIE DEBUT IN NEW LINE
CINEMA’S AFTER THE SUNSET
Seven Seas Navigator stars in New Line Cinema's After the Sunset
Starring opposite Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek, the Radisson Seven Seas
Cruises all-suite ‘Seven Seas Navigator,’ debuts as the set for New Line
Cinema’s fall release of After the Sunset, which opened Friday, November
12. This high-seas action flick required a luxury cruise ship to light up
the screen and after scouring the world for the right vessel, producers
zeroed in on the six-star, 490-guest Navigator because she catered to a “
champagne and caviar” clientele, a major consideration in creating the
desired ambiance for the film story.
In the high-stakes action comedy After the Sunset, Max Burdett (Brosnan)
and his beautiful accomplice Lola (Hayek) retire to Paradise Island,
Bahamas, fresh from their final big score in which they lifted the second
of the three famous Napoleon diamonds. Stan Lloyd (Woody Harrelson), the
FBI agent who has pursued Max for years, suspects that the thieving duo is
plotting to steal the third Napoleon diamond, coincidentally set to
arrive on Paradise Island as part of a touring cruise ship exhibition.
The production team found a real gem of a location in the Seven Seas
Navigator. The ship provides the dramatic backdrops needed for many of the
cinematic sequences, from tropical settings and alluring sailing shots to
picturesque port views and scenes filmed aboard, on deck and en suite. In
addition, some of the extras seen on screen are real crewmembers,
including stewardesses, waiters and bartenders, making their acting debut.
The movie was filmed aboard the Seven Seas Navigator in December 2003,
when New Line Cinema chartered the vessel for a week off Paradise Island.

The Seven Seas Navigator became the line’s first all-suite&#8213;90 percent with
private balconies&#8213;vessel when she was launched in 1999. All guests are
accommodated in spacious ocean-view suites ranging from a minimum of 301
up to 1,173 square feet including marble-appointed bathrooms with separate
shower and full bathtub and walk-in closet. Butler service is included in
the Master, Grand, Navigator and A & B Penthouse Suites.

The Seven Seas Navigator was ranked the No. 2 cruise ship in the world&#8213;
second only to another ship in the same fleet, the Paul Gauguin&#8213;and
Radisson Seven Seas was voted “Best Small-Ship Cruise Line” by readers of
Condé Nast Traveler in 2003.

Thanks for posting the review, Jan. That must be from Radisson. A movie review and catalog description all in one. I still say the movie was fun. We are all Radisson fans, whether on the ship or at the movies.
