If I could just ask all of you to think good thoughts today for my stepfather. They just took him in five minutes ago to prep him for surgery. He is having an amputation due to that horrible disease of diabetes.

Sheri, I know what your going through. Parents, children and sometimes pets. When you love someone these times are the hardest. I don't pray a lot but I am tonight from the other side of the world. For your Stepdad and You! Chip

Well, you all must have been sending some intensely good thoughts and prayers my way...he is out of surgery already! They only had to take his big toe! They were worried that they might have to take the whole foot! AND, it looks like they were able to clean all the ulceration out! All went well with his heart too! Thanks so very much for all your support!

You will be in my thoughts all day today. My family also has dealt with this insidious disease, with my father, so I understand the struggles and the emotional trauma of a day like your family is having today. Hang on to the thought that there will be better days ahead.

Mark has diabetes, and right now it's affecting his kidneys, which affects his blood count and sight. It's a tough disease.

He is now sitting up eating breakfast and reports NO pain whatsoever!!! If I am ever sick, I want you guys on my side!! :D :D :D

Thanks Chip! I think you are right. I didn't realize how exhausted emotionally I was until after I found out he was okay. I spend so much time counseling others that I forget to look after myself!
