Karen, just bring an adapter that fits the bags, and a roll of duct tape. That will make the adapter fit whatever vacuum they use, and thus make the bags work. If you still have too much stuff, you can overpack your bags and make an expansion seam out of the duct tape!

I'll second the idea of the silk long underwear. I wore out a set from Eddie Bauer walking my dog in Toronto winters. Loved them, and no bulk or weight at all. I still wear the ragged top sometimes, haven't bought another set, since my dog is long gone, but now I certainly will do so if and when we go to Alaska!!

The major thing to pack for any trip, cruise etc. etc. The uses are incredible!!!!!!!!!! Just pack it and use your imagination it works for so many major and minor "everythings"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
