On this year's South America cruise the Mariner had one of the Voyager's cruise consultants on loan as a "Seven Seas Society Hostess" handling all of the SSS details. Brian O'Brien was the CC and didn't have any SSS duties, but he was still fairly busy. I think this was a trial and I don't know if Corporate has evaluated it yet, but it could be a help on full sailings. Jim

Yes, Gudrun is great with her experience and cheerful attitude. She was VERY busy on our WC but always seemed to keep her composure. We too have had a few RSSC "clinkers" on our cruises....luck of the draw I guess. Thank goodness for Ngaire and her wonderful BK staff to be overseeing things!

We think we had the same consultant and had a very different experience. She was always pleasant and made time for us. When she got our paperwork, she sought us out. However, she was not that competent and made mistakes in our booking. Perhaps this all comes down to someone who is overwhelmed in her job.

Just thought I should mention that the CC sends all the requests into Omaha to have the bookings made. They then get sent back to the CC once completed.
The errors may have been made in Omaha and with that many bookings and details it is pretty understandable if a CC misses a detail or two.
Omaha is really VERY good but I get bookings all the time with errors. Even with the most proficient agent in Omaha sometimes it appears the "computer" has a mind of its own. You add a gold point redemption and "whoosh" away goes the onboard booking. These things should not happen but computers do not seem to be the exacting science that they should be. I have a pile behind me all the time with things that are wrong that I have to keep calling to get fixed.
I had my computer do some things this week that I cannot believe happened. Totally a mystery to me, rather scary too to see it happen. We become so dependent and assume everything comes out correctly but sometimes they dont. (all the geeks are saying - not possible it is the operator)
On the form I have designed I have a statement that says "Do not worry if there are simple errors on the booking - as long as the ship and date are correct we will fix those errors for you. There is no need to go back to the cruise consultant".

Our onboard booking done last December on Navigator had a minor error in it. When I went to get it corrected, the (very pleasant) cruise consultant was just picking up the phone to call us--she had noticed it, and was already in the process of correcting it. She was very nice, and seemed very efficient. I can't remember her name, but she was young and slim.

Wendy, I think her name is Lynn Madsen. I will say, there was a line in front of her office, on that cruise too.

Lynn is the only cruise consultant I know that came from Omaha originally. So she is very experienced in the booking and computer process. Super nice person too.

She was very pleasant -we chatted with her at the SSS party but we did not even need her services on that cruise since we'd done all our bookings on Mush and our Travel Agent Extraordinare took care of it then for us. With the telephone service available on board now, they could almost do the onboards via a telephone directly to Omaha and just have a desk there. Once someone knows what they want to book, they should just get a booking number or some kind of code to give their travel agent and the on board consultant should be a catalyst/host for future bookings.
On the Holland America cruise a few weeks ago, the onboard consultant was an independent travel agent. He was hardly staffing the desk that was not very private. We wanted a brochure but not any information and we finally just went to the concierge and she took care of it.
