Does anyone have experience or knowledge about companies that will reliably ship your luggage in advance of your arrival rather than relying upon an airline not to lose it?

In May we decided to ship our luggage to Disney World via UPS to make our family trip easier. While we confirmed that the luggage arrived at the hotel (Disney's Boardwalk) 2 days prior to our checking in, when we arrived, no one at the hotel could find the bags for a good 5 hours. We shipped the bags back via UPS too, and UPS lost one of the bags for 10 days, before finally showing up at our house. YMMV.

Jim...I've used International Port Services. We had good luck - bags were on the ship when we boarded and taken away as we disembarked. You have to plan for some lead time and of course it will take a while for your bags to catch up with you at home, but it was wonderful going through the airport with only our two small carryons!

Thanks.
We will try International Port Services. We are spending a week traveling in Greece prior to a cruise and don't want to carry cruise luggage with us. Our airline connections are also not generous (2 hours plus) increasing the risk of lost luggage.

Jim, We looked into a company that had an insert into our cruise docs....as I recall, it was very expensive. Actually, at the Zurich airport there is a large secured room which is locked down where you can store luggage for days/weeks. I believe it was around $10-$15 per bag per day but not sure of that!
