After living in Tucson for 5 years I have come to the conclusion that why leave here in the winter. It's the best time of the year. You spend the summer couped inside with the air conditoner going full blast instead of staying indoors in the winter. Like the rest of the country.
So I need to take my vacations in the summer. But where do you go? It's winter in the southern hemisphere. Alaska is just too short a trip. So does anyone have any ideas of where one could take a 2-3 week cruise from June-September

Amen, Chip.
Why leave during the winter when its the best time to be here.
Would love to hear suggestions as I've had the same problem trying to find a cruise in the summer. Add an aversion to humidity, and it becomes a bigger problem.

What about Iceland to NY on Navigator, on July 30? Here's the itinerary:
DAY DATE PORT ARRIVE DEPART Sat Jul 30 Reykjavik, Iceland 10:00pm Sun Jul 31 Heimaey 8:00am 1:00pm Mon Aug 1 Anguilla 5:00pm 11:00pm Tue Aug 2 At Sea Wed Aug 3 Prince Kristian Fjord (Cruising) 5:00am 9:00am Wed Aug 3 Qaqortoq, Greenland 2:00pm 8:00pm Thu Aug 4 Narsaq, Greenland 8:00am 2:00pm Fri Aug 5 At Sea Sat Aug 6 L'Anse aux Meadows, Canada 7:00am 6:00pm Sun Aug 7 At Sea Mon Aug 8 Halifax, Canada 7:00am Midnight Tue Aug 9 Boston, MA 9:00am 5:00pm Tue Aug 9 Cape Cod Canal 8:30pm 10:00pm Wed Aug 10 New York City, NY Disembark There's a pretty wide variance of weather conditions along this route -- everything from 40's in Narsaq to 90's in Anguilla, but it sounds like it would be a fascinating itinerary. I wish I could go on it! But it's too soon after my May Med cruise.

We've done both the Baltice and the Norwegian fjords. Loved them both! It was wonderful leaving the humid Midwest! Though we stick to 7 day cruises cause of my work schedule there are longer ones offered or do a back to back. You run the risk of a heat wave (it was very warm in St. Petersburg the year we went there) even then it is cooler there than here.

Hi Chip,
You could join us aboard Navigator for the 14 days Iceland /Norway cruise on June 25. Ngaire is escorting it and some other LCT members are coming.

Maria,
There you go. That's a part of the world I would like to see. The sun would never go down that time of the year. Plus that is the time to get out of Dodge around here. (or should I say Tombstone). Let me check that out.

I cruise in the summer right now because I work in education and those summer months help with not missing those precious student days. My sister-in-law also teaches. My two nieces enjoy that extra holiday off to travel since we seem to cruise around July 4th.
Look out, I can think about retiring June '06. Then who knows when I'll be on a ship!!!!

Right, we can also only take vacations from May to mid-August, Xmas holidays, and one week in mid-February, since my husband is an academic.
Up here in Toronto, the term ends about the beginning of May, he's all through with the hard stuff by mid-May, and he's back into it by mid-August, with classes starting usually right after Labour Day.
If and when he ever retires, that will change, but he loves his work, so not sure that will happen for quite some time, especially if they throw out mandatory retirement at 65, which is in the air up here.
