We are looking at two cruise itineraries for next year. Both of the ships are small and the Navigator has a terrible vibration problem that makes even the most seaworthy person kind of sick. What can I expect on the Silver Cloud. It is even smaller.

We've been on the Navigator twice and were only aware of a vibration problem in the Portofino restaurant (it never stopped us from enjoying the food in that venue). Both times, we were on deck 10 toward the front of the ship, and were never bothered. So far, it is our favorite ship ever.

Not been on Navigator only Mariner and Voyager and in comparison to them, Silver Cloud is very small. But there was no vibration that I ever noticed. We did Norwegian fjords on her and she is a lovely ship but all things being equal I prefer the "Regent experience"

We were on Navigator last winter, and we did not find there was a lot of vibration. In the main auditorium, when the ship was in fairly heavy seas, the presenter (a chef) had problems with being bounced around on the stage. There was some vibration there. Our cabin (on deck 6), creaked a bit as well, but that's pretty normal I have found.

maybe Dolebludger or Don will chime in, think they have been on both ships...here is a recent post Dolebludger posted on CC about the vibration (none) on the cloud:
A good point has been raised, in that we have experienced vibration or shaking problems on all current RSSC ships except the Mariner. We found the Silver Cloud to be the most vibration-free ship we have cruised compared to RSSC and a number of other lines. That's a good thing. Further, we also like smaller ships (on RSSC, we favor the Paul Gauguin and the Navigator). r/wes

The Cloud and the Navigator. It is a close call. On the Cloud, we liked the small size, the absolute freedom from any vibration, and the entertainment. On the Navigator, we liked the larger lower category suites, the food, and the ship's excursions. Indeed, we found the Cloud's excursions to be lacking and (IMO) over-priced. Moreover, even though the Cloud tended to be in all its ports for a whole day until 6:00 PM or later on this cruise, the excursions tended to depart at 8:00 AM! For us on a cruise, there is no such thing as 8:00 AM.
Another difference about which I have no hard and fast opinion is one of formality. On the Cloud, there are formal nights, and almost all the men wear tuxes. I think you will feel out of place in a dark suit. The Navigator is less formal. IF there are formal nights on the Navigator cruise you are considering, a dark suit will fit right in. Plus, on many itineraries, the dress code is all casual.
Let me comment on the Navigator's vibration. The only place where it is disturbing to us is in the show lounge, where it translates into a bit of a roar which drowns out lectures and shows. Once we had a suite more toward the stern, and a slight "thump, thumpthump" could be felt in the marble bathroom floor -- bu the carpeting in the rest of the suite made it unnoticeable. Another time, we had a suite more toward the bow, and there was zero vibration in it. The "thumping" and occasional vibration can be felt in other areas of the ship. I wish it weren't there, but it certainly didn't ruin our cruise. When you speak of a "terrible vibration problem" I wonder if you haven't got the Navigator confused with the Voyager. The Voyager does have a terrible vibration problem, but it is limited to a comparatively small part of the ship near the stern. While the rest of the ship is quite smooth, I will never again book a suite on the Voyager near the stern.
Hope this helps, Richard
