Our flight home (cruise air) will not depart Anchorage until nearly midnight. We will be doing the train transfer from ship to Anchorage. What do you do for the time after arriving in Anchorage. What do you do with your luggage? Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. We havent received documents from Regent , but TA gave me our flight schedule because I have to book our flights from South Dakota to Denver to connect with the cruise air. I would ask TA but they dont seem very knowledgeable.
Thanks for any help Sandra
Sandra I hope you still feel small when stand beside the Ocean, and when you get a chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you DOC Dance

Sandra, RSSC will give you a day room - probably at the Hilton or you will be able to store your luggage there. It will still be light out, so you will have plenty of time to do something. Under the topic MUSH there is a link to a vistor's guide, which you can send for it's free. There is a host of fun things to do in Anchorage. HEre is the link to my post with how to get the Vistor\'s Guide

We had the same situation last year but had opted for a rent car from Whittier to Anchorage which did give us a ittle flexibility. Made a few stops along the way -a game preserve- another glacier and stopped for lunch at a lovely hotel that Radisson appeared to use for pre and post cruises. Had a nice lunch there and went up on the ski lift, but still had lots of time to kill in Anchorage. Just walked the streets, saw the historical movie, soaked up some fun in the park and then off to the airport for a long wait. A day room would definietly be worth it as it was truly a long day. The cruise was wonderful -you have a lot to look forward to. Have Fun -Jan

Sandra, The Anchorage Museum of History and Art is worth a trip. http://www.anchoragemuseum.org/ I remember it to be very interesting.

Sandra, We too enjoyed the Museum of History during our stay in Anchorage. We also thoroughly enjoyed the zoo seeing many animals indigenous to Alaska. Quite interesting. Enjoy your trip. Deanna

Thank you all for the information. Chatkat, wasn't aware of the RSSC day room. Thought of renting a room near airport, but wondered if staff would think we were having an illicit roundevous with same day checkout(smile) I have sent for the Achorage info already after reading a previous post of yours. DH is such a bad travel day guy. Comes from living in midwest and constant problems with impact of O'Hare airport. You either can't get in or out about 70% of time, many of the flights we have from here, involve Chicago Thanks Again Sandra

Been thinking about our long day of travel and I am thinking about reserving a hotel room to relax in or take a nap before another 14 hr travel day (we cant leave Denver til getting in from anchorage at 7am Arrive back in SD 2pm) What is the day room that RSSC has. Do they transport your luggage to the airport for cruise air. Can we leave luggage and have transported for us. These are dumb ? but we have never used a cruise air program before. Thanks for any help. Sandra HEre is the link to my post with how to get the Vistor\'s Guide

Check with your TA about the day room. Usually, they give you a hotel room to use based on what they have contracted. In 2001, they had a lounge room at the Anchorage Hilton - some people did get rooms and others did not - I guess the criteria may have been the length of time before flights. They dropped off the luggage there too. We did not have to wait - we went right to the airport for our flight. They did not have separate busses from Seward - which is why some of the passengers went to the hotel and some went to the airport.

Thanks Kathy I have left a message for TA but they're about useless. I've done everything myself, with advice from this board, others and research (guess I didn't research enough before picking TA .grin.) Next cruise will definitely contact Ngaire. Again Thanks Everyone for your help. Have loved all the info and seamail. Sandra
