A question for all the Explorer experts. I understand that there are cabins with expanded balconies; are 816, 817, 911, and 912 the only four cabins? Is the balcony nicer with the bump out or is there too much wind? Is Deck 8 better than Deck 9? Would you book one of these cabins again?

thanks,

Marc

Marc, yes, we are booked again in cabin 912, next year on the Explorer and again on the Splendor cabin 912 from Miami to Barcelona April next year.

Hi Marc,

We booked 911 for a past cruise and enjoyed the larger balcony but what I especially liked is being able to look forward a bit. I wouldn’t be interested in the suites that look back or are in the narrow part of the “waist” of the ship. I also booked 816 but that cruise in Asia was one of our many cancellations. The wind was not a problem on our cruise from LA to Miami to Lisbon. We also have 911 on n the Explorer Caribbean cruise November 15.

And the coolest thing was being able to tell the Maitre’d “we need a table for Nine-One-One” every night. Never got old. 😂

I know this doesn't answer your original question but we have stayed in the F1 suites at the rear of the ship, which have the full large balconies (there are 4 of them on decks 7 and 8). I know some folks don't like the rear of the ship, but we had no issues at all. Only costs a couple of hundred more for the F1 (depending on the length of the voyage).
