We are doing our first ever river cruise, on Scenic, from Amsterdam to Budapest. We are a little nervous about it, since it is a bit more structured than we are used to on our ocean cruising with Regent, but I am sure we will have fun. We are spending 4 days in Amsterdam on the front end and a couple of days in Budapest at the tail end. Here are the stops:

Cindy - We did that cruise with AMA a couple of years ago and loved it. We are booked on Scenic to explore France next year. I have yet to hear any negative comments about it. The only main difference is when it is 'meal time' you don't hesitate and go straight to the dining room. How they deliver such great food in such small surroundings is beyond me. What I did like was their walking tours are graded from 'easy', 'moderate' and 'fast' and the fact that the ship stops on most occasions right at the towns. You will love some of the German villages and Budapest at night is a real treat. It is different from ocean cruising but I'm sure you will enjoy it. Lee

Thanks Lee! Of course, the meal time thing is a big sticking point for us, as we like to eat when we want to, and usually late. We sprung for the Panorama Suite so we could have meals in our room when we want to (which may end up being most every night!). I'm sure we will make the best of it! I'll try to give a report!
