For those of you who have been to Antarctica & South Georgia and those hoping to go there, there is a program on PBS tonight, Aug 12, on Shackleton. Here in FL it is at 8pm and repeated at 9 & 10.

It turns out that it is a 3 part series of a recreation of Shackleton's lifeboat journey from elephant Island to South Georgia. I think the re-creators had a more solid boat, but the story is interesting.

Thanks so much the the heads up, Jim, I watched the first two segments today via Comcast On Demand. Fascinating how everything was authentic, including the clothes they wore, no GPS, just a sextant to guide them. Of course. With an escort ship following them, not quite the dangers Shackleton faced!

I'll have to check that out. Antarctica is definitely on the bucket list, but haven't had the opportunity to visit quite yet!
