Wow, you would get lost on that ship! I get lost on Regent ships that I have been sailing on for years wink

I'm happy just where I am with the smaller Regent ships. Don't need all those big ships offer, and since I often don't get off the ship for excursions, listen to all the announcements coming over the mikes for the constant training for emergencies. BUT, I did love my Disney cruise, big ship on the Dream.
It was never too far from land. Never in the middle of the ocean somewhere!

Thanks Marcie - that made interesting reading. Not that my opinion matters, but I do think the size of the newer cruise ships is getting out of hand. I prefer Mariner any day - just wish we could find some newer itineraries in the time frame we have to cruise! Lee

I agree, Lee. Those of us with limited cruise windows do find it difficult to find new exciting itineraries. Makes it tough to stay with Regent, unfortunately.

I prefer smaller ships as well, especially on port intensive cruises.. I think Mariner/Voyager are great sizes.. However the Allure of the Seas is a destination ship, I have not cruised it but know many who have and they rave about it.. It always fun to have options..

I have sailed on Allure and oasis and Disney Wonder. I have also sailed on silver explorer and explorer II as well silver seas cloud and regents mariner . We have had a total blast on each and every one. If you are cognizant of what you bought, how you can not love your days at sea on any cruise ship? It is all about expectations I think. And our expectations have always been that the ship will not sink, lol.

I would never say 'no' to the offer of a cruise, no matter what ship it was on. Have even been on P&O and was pleasantly surprised but still wish I could find more to do on Regent. Lee

Very well said, Helen. Though I enjoy the RSSC and Silversea products, I am open to other cruise lines. Have even thought about those Monsters of the Sea as destinations as Frank stated. Now to find a roomie to bunk with me, the time to go and the itinerary!

I am hoping to get on Allure of the Seas sometime this winter.. People travel all over the world to see cities, well this is a floating one with over twenty dining venues.. Oh, and it cruises too. I am not into rock climbing or ice skating or surfing on a wave pool, but their are so many other things to entertain you, and this is coming from so many people who I know who have been on it.. JMO!

Go for it, Frank! Be sure and post lots of pictures and a report. I've read all about those two really big ones, and watched videos as well. Good we have so many choices. My sons and wives would love it. But I think my daughters would not.

I was on the Allure last April. The 1st day its crowded cuz everyone explores the ship. The last day its crowded cuz everyone is leaving. In between those times I never found it crowded. Never had to wait more than ONE minute for an elevator. Course RCCL nickel/dimes you everywhere. BUT, I loved it so much, especially the entertainment, that I will return this next April but with the grandkids. Frankly, the food, the shows, the gambling all are much superior to Regent or SS.

Okay, Frank, Olivia! You know me, you know I was always cowerig at Mark's warm side. IF I can work up the courage to strike out on my own....which ship should I set my sights on? I might have my daughter with me, and if school patterns jelled, her two college students. If we get to, we want to do it right. Advise me, make a studying science project. Big ship better for teenangers, smaler ships better for adults. But teenagers are older one, may be leaning toward the adult ships.I
i would love to get out there one more time, just because Mark and I loved it so. Can you maybe try to come up with someting like that for us? No rush, obviously. One in college, one in High
School this year, then College, and one in middle school yet. Maybe try a little bit for me?

We are boarding the QM2 next week in New York, to visit my family in the UK. We have gone transatlantic with her many times and have been on the Queen Victoria too. I like Cunard a lot. It's different from the small ships (we usually sail on Seabourn but we have been on Regent, Silverseas and Crystal too). It's more anonymous and the service is not as gracious. OTOH there is more entertainment and more venues to dance in. And you can't beat the price - $599 pp for a balcony cabin. Almost cheaper than flying :)
