Somebody posted a review of their train trip across the U.S.

I believe they arrived from Australia, took the train to Chicago, changed there, then went to the East Coast.

Can anybody bump it to the top, or PM me the link?

Thank you.

Wasn't that on CC, somebody named Granny? I enjoyed her trip report a lot, she's hilarious. I seem to remember she was on a Silverseas ship.

I remember the thread Pam is talking about--it was GrannyLorr and the train trip was before a Seabourn cruise (I think!!!). Agree Pam, she's a hoot.

I can hardly bear the train from Wilmington to NYC! Last week, we had to make up a few minutes, and I was certain we were going to derail. Not sure I could handle a cross country if the tracks are the same.

We've taken Amtrak a number of times both across country - East to West - as well as NYC to FtL, the last time in December 2007. Is it perfect? No. Is it always smooth? No. Is it always on time? No. For us, is it preferable to the airlines? Yes.

I'll be glad to try to answer any questions.

Peggy

Thanks, this is it!

Somebody on the Cross Stitch board was thinking of doing a cross-country train trip and wanted opinions.

GrannyLorr is a riot
It was soooooooo much fun reading her posts
Marty and I have had a lot of experience on trains in the US. We even took a trip on what was once called the American Orient Express. We have had many experiences on Amtrak. We find that the main problem with them is that they are always late.
