Of course, Joanna! That's why I send everything (well almost everything) to the cleaners. We have very complicated bedding and it all requires pressing - well I'm not about to do it so it goes out as well.

Robert, please tell me what bedding anyone would want that requires pressing. It must be some extreme Egyptian cotten, or another material. I have a duvet cover that comes out of the wash looking wonderful, just as pressed as going in. I want to know what you have so I can avoid buying it in the future! Too much other stuff to have to worry about other than ironing bedding these days! (although my first paid job was ironing pillow cases for my mom in her resort apartment house with renters changing every week....2 cents per pillow case, I ironed and ironed!)

I love this topic: "Airline help requested" and we are now talking about elderly bag boys and duvet covers - but NO ONE is correcting us or complaining (if you get my drift)...and we are all having fun - of course learning tons too - Joanna

Frette for the most part and, yes, some Egyptian cotton in the mix. Nothing under 400 thread count. No synthetics. Raw silk accessories (skirt, euro-shams, throw pillows, etc.) but those only go 2X a year. I agree with you 100% - too many other things to worry about so I don't, i have someone press for me. Same thing goes for cleaning - I hate doing the big chunks - so someone does that for me too.

Robert...do you have a boiler iron yet? ANd, does anyone know where I can get high thread count sheets for a 22 inch mattress? Frette are too narrow.

Are you kidding Andi?!? I don't even know where my iron is!!! Funny this household stuff got me thinking. I have OCD about doing the dishes and my closet (no dry cleaner bags, no wire hangers - very Joan Crawford) everything coordinated by type then color. But ask me to do the windows, ain't nevah gonna happen. I'll look on-line for your sheets. Gotta be something you can special order.

I've found a few links for custiom sheets that I have in a word document - if you e-mail at the address in my profile I can reply and attach it.
BBB is impossible for me to go into and not spend a fortune. Kind of like Target...I get home and think, "Where the heck am I going to put all this stuff?"
Yeah I'll come over and restore order and we can go on a fun cruise - we can leave the pets and the boys behind!!

You need to go to France. YOu should see the linens there. I did tremendous damage to my pocket book. I now turn up my nose at BBB. I have been officially spoiled.
Update on mom....she ranges from "I will never walk again." to "When I get out of here I will buy a red corvette immediately." I would just like something normal in the middle. Either too negative or too crazy.

I feel so plebian.
But we ordered custom sheets for Tsunami Sarah's youth bed; does that count?
Andi, I think I'd be prone to encourage the red Corvette thinking. When Mark's dad was terminally ill with cancer, his birthday was going to be the day after Sonja and Andy's wedding. We kept promising him that if he made it to the wedding, we'd include a birthday cake at the reception. Sadly, he didn't make it.

Pam: I could not agree more!
The entire idea of a super fast sports car may just be the thing that puts her mind over the edge to recovery. No one could ever know for sure.
Reality? I doubt that she will ever drive anything ever again. But we are leaving her car there for her..just in case.
The mind is a rather amazing organ. If you *REALLY* believe something, there seems to be a better chance that it comes true... at least health-wise.
Sometimes what we want is better than what we have, and the wanting makes everything worthwhile.

I totally agree with Robert. Maybe you can't change what is bound to be, but doggonit, ATTITUDE is definitely a plus when you are fighting sickness in whatever form. Medical professionals know this. When my long-time caregiver/nana as the kids called her was in rehab after lung cancer therapy, they asked me for posters of Alaska to put in her room to give her hope, because we were planning a cruise with her. Turns out, the cancer had spread to the bones and it wasn't possible, but sometimes ANYTHING is possible. We see that in survivor stories, many of which have been shared on this board with such humble candor and have given me such encouragement when and if I have to face it.

Andi,
Your mother has hope, whether it be her hope to drive a red corvette or get out of bed and take a walk. I would find this very encouraging.
I am a firm believer in hope and it's power. Without hope, you have little or nothing.

Pam, I would never discourage the red corvette...you are all right. The amazing Maggie will have outlived her death sentence by one year on June 24th and I hope my mother will follow suit.
Suzie...Porthault? Ooo la la. Tres elegant. For anyone going to Paris, go to Madras. Wonderful bed covers, curtains, pillow shams. There is also one in Boston.
Thanks for the lead on custom sheets, y'all.
Today has been a good day. Found a reputable carpenter who will install my Anderson windows for $250 each.

Andi, Glad to hear your Mom is thinking ahead to a red corvette. Now, that's a way to recover! And, I agree with everyone, if it gives her a spark to think that way, great.
Wow, I go away for three days and look what I missed...Domestic Boy confesses and the gang discusses luxury bedding. I hate it when I don't have internet!
