I missed her first snow, so it will have to wait. I wish I could take her on Polar Bears, but she probably would scare all the Polar Bears.
Karen, I do not know if she was happy to see me, or just happy to see someone else. She loves people.
Wandra, my TA did a wonderful job of starting the training process. She is fully potty trained and other stuff.

What is a TA that does potty training and all sorts of stuff? I want one. Found my 6 year old pup going into my purse, pulling out my Lexus car key controller and chewing it today. Heard a strange crunch....I have the car which is turned on automatically by this device...Caught it before the damage was done.

You gotta break counter surfing...Who am I to talk ... I own devil dog.

That has been the only time I let her to that. Of course, she doesn't always listen. Kathy had a great idea of breaking that habit that I am going to try.

Yes, you can have a dinner party and where will you put the roast beef .,,a friend of mine has a bearded collie that helped himself...a whole prime rib roast disappeared to the back yard. Those cookie sheets really work. i learned how to deal with food theives when I had a terrier who would get on the table when you got up to get something and left your plate on the table. He stole my dinner more than once.

New photos of Snowy. Her body height is now 21" and she is 40 lbs!!!!!!!!! Also, her age is 10 days away from 6 months. I think I am going to have an abnormally large Dalmation.

We too have a new addition, a 6 month old adopted Shih-tzu "Daisy". She and Charlie are quickly becoming best buddies

Agreed, they are all so adorable! I just love dogs so much. Our little 7-pound Italian Greyhound, Gracie, just had a mast cell tumor (cancer) removed from her hind leg. The lump showed up and grew to a half-golf-ball size within a week - very fast growing. Our vet here in Colleyville is FABULOUS - they performed surgery immediately (2 days before Christmas) and her prognosis is excellent. As with humans, early detection is the key.

I am loving all the wonderful pictures of our "best friends". Reminds me of the new movie "Marley and Me." If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend it but make sure you bring lots of kleenex. I haven't laughed so hard in ages as I thought of our chocolate lab as he was growing up.

Lynn, Snowy is quite grown up now. I wrote an article a year or two ago about a family who adopts dalmations. Very smart dogs!

Thanks, Lynn! After 14 years of being "parents" of 6 dogs, we really didn't realize that you need to look for lumps like that! We've been through broken legs, ruptured discs and a fatal infection, but not cancer. Luckily Gracie has only peach fuzz for a coat, so we were able to see her lump easily. Would be more difficult for a long haired breed.

We are small breed lovers, but I must say, a Dalmation would be great. I wonder how small and large breeds would get along? What is Snow White's temperament like - is she easy going? She just looks like an angel from your pictures.

I will tell you better after we complete obedience class. Lovable she is, and sweet, an angel she is not, yet. I realize she is a puppy, but she is a chewer...anything from my toes, to my glasses, to any piece of anything she can find. Other than that she is well behaved and loves everybody. I took her to the vet for a shot this week, and she made a great friend with a Mastiff!!!!! And she loves people of any sort. When we are outdoors, either to do her "business" or walking, when she sees a car go by, she will sit and watch for the car to come visit her, and is very upset when they just drive by! She is full of energy and I have been losing weight trying to keep up with her.
Now, if I can just get her away from chewing and learn how to "heel", she would be perfect.

Lynn, this sounds exactly like Charlie. He's so good and friendly but when we leave him alone he will chew EVERYTHING. The joys of a puppy (and I think Labs remain puppies half their lives !)

We've somehow managed to avoid the chewing problem, but I am not sure how!

I was thinking I wasn't feeding her enough, but the vet (not my regular one, a sub)said she needs to lose a little weight, so that can't be it. Hopefully the obedience classes will give me a way to stop it.

Two words: "Bitter Apple". If you haven't tried it, please do. You should find it at any good pet supply store. Just one more weapon in the arsenal of anti-chewing strategies. I wondered when we watched those pups on the webcam--they were given shoes to chew--this is a big no-no for pups, since it just teaches them to chew shoes.

Remember also that separation anxiety can cause misbehaviours and there are strategies for that as well.
