Well, it has been a weird morning. We took our cab to the Dublin airport this morning at 4:45. There was a security breach last week (the airport failed a security audit) so we were cautioned by taxi drivers and hotel staff to allow at least a couple of hours to clear security. Sure enough, it was pretty much a zoo at 5:00am. However, the staff was amazinginly sanguine about it (I heard one screener at the X-ray machines cheerfully inform a passenger unaccustomed to the increased measures that he most certainly was not put on the planet to make her happy. She snapped back at him but he never lost his cool, nor his cheery smile. Amazing.)
It looked like no one was getting out of Dublin on time, so our short flight to London came in a bit late. However, we were astonished to realize that Heathrow was not busy at all. What is the world coming to when you can't get out of Dublin but you could roller skate in Heathrow? We simply breezed through. The lack of lines must be a result of our having an approximately four-hour layover, there is no other explanation.
FYI, if you are traveling in this neck of the woods.
