JimB, I know I am still jet lagged and brain-dead by around 4 p.m., but are you going on both MINT and VOYTAN? I thought I saw your name on the Voyager thread today.

9. On a Canadian two dollar bill, the flag flying over the Parliament building is an American flag.

Do they still make $2 bills? Do they still make the Susan B. Anthony coin? I can't even remember what it was worth!? aaannnthony, a good question for you as it is "in the family".

Well, Olivia, I admit I'm not aaannnthony but will this answer your question?

From the US Mint web site:

"...the Golden Dollar coin replaced the Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coin, which circulated since 1979. The government's supply of Susan B. Anthony Dollars was exhausted in early 2000."
- - - - - - - -
The Golden Dollar coins are also know as Sacagawea dollars and were released in January 2000. In the 4 years since their release, I have yet to see one.

No more $2 bills in Canada, we have a coin now nicknamed a "toonie" (as in TWO nee). Named so, because we first eliminated $1 bills, replacing them with a coin called a "loonie" (picture of a loon on it). Our shoulders are aching from carrying purses laden with heavy coins!! And yes, they have considered eliminating $5 bills and replacing them with coins as well. I hope they don't.

And here's an absolutely fascinating tid-bit (?). The Canadian $2 bill of 20 years ago (they changed designs a few times in the 1900's) had a picture of a village just outside of Sherbrooke Quebec - and the farm house shown on it was OUR HOUSE! My Dad was a student minister, studying in Montreal and preaching in this village, and that was where yours truly was conceived!!!

Believe it or not, none of us have one of those $2 bills in our possession. Can you believe nobody had the fortitude to save one???

Who needs Las Vegas. We're so exciting.

Charlene

Aren't we playing trivia today....to pass some time until the "Masters" comes on at 3:30 Eastern?

How about an easy geography for starters....the island of Zealand is part of which country.

I have one for you.

Alaska is the number 1 state in size, and 49 in admission to the Union.

What state is the opposite -- size and admission both.

Isn't Delaware the "first state"? But I thought Rhode Island was smaller. I didn't google, have to rush out to get the rest of my cruise photo's downloaded on my brother's faster computer!

You're right jhp.....Rhode Island, the smallest, is 50th in size, with Delaware at 49th. 49 and 1.

Oh, Masaki, these will be very boring to many of you. I have this obsession with photographing flowers and other little things (like butterflies, chickens when I see them, lizards, etc) These pictures will be in a separate album on ofoto, as they are all from the Singapore Botanical Gardens. The prettiest orchids you will ever see. I am going to try to parse out the best right now and will post when ready.

Olivia...I look forward to your photos from the Botanical Gardens - it will bring back fond memories of our visit there 6 years ago.

I remember they had many interesting pots and stone markers etc. So much to photograph!

Here is another trivia question I enjoyed that is related to states and geography. Which state is the farthest north, which is farthest east, which is farthest west and which is farthest south?

Okay, never heard this one, but, how about Alaska, Maine, Alaska, Hawaii, in order.

Close. Alaska crosses the international date line so it technically is also the furthest east.
