I'd have to say my all time fav is his pecan pie which he makes with real vanilla beans and Meyers rum. Also any kind of ice cream. When I see the cylinder in the freezer I know I am in for a treat. Baking is an actual science and I am a non-measuring throw stuff in a pot kind of cook so it's not for me. At last count there were over 300 cook books in the house. It's like living in a book store...

Funny about your Dad and the steak. I'm a bernaise or A1 kind of guy.

Me, too, Robert pour on the B and/or A1A and I am happy - can we plan an LA get away centered around Paul's pecan pie??????

Actually, we could do a gathering - maybe a summer picnic in Marina del Rey. Burton Chase Park or Mother's Beach. All those yacht's going by are the perfect backdrop.

If we did a summer picnic, we'd probably want to do that before MUSH - only 3 months away. I am going to start a new thread for it

Pecan pie is one of my most favorites; I don't think most other pies cut it....I'd love to try it with the rum in it next time. How much?

I made a chocolate mint dessert for today's company, but maybe I could do a pecan pie for Monday. (Dave is grilling rib eye's - while I make the cheesy mashed potatoes!) I might as well make a great dessert to finish the meal!

Just got around to this thread and what a hoot! Same situation steak-wise - Dad always said adding anything more than some salt, pepper, and garlic ruined a good thing! He still thinks it odd when we get out the A1 or I make a sauce - but at least he now allows the A1 in his fridge! If I saute mushrooms to go on top he counts them as a separate vegetable and not part of the steak dish itself. Stubborn man...

Does Paul share his recipes? I know I got a nummy brussel sprout dish from you R! Would love a new take on pecan pie!

Nancy, As others have said more eloquently - I'm so sorry for your loss.

I hope everyone had as much fun as we did over the weekend! The trip to New York was super!
J had a great time.
Here is a photo of J and me, he in his Oakley shades and me in my Chanels, that we bought, from a street vender. Shhhhh, don't tell, o.k.?
