We are on the May 13 Voyager cruise which departs out of Monte Carlo. Currently, we have reservations for a three night pre-cruise stay at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. I'm wondering if we should stay in Nice instead. Does anyone have any recommendations for this area? Is public transportation to Nice, Eze, and St. Paul de Vence convenient from Monte Carlo?
Thanks for your help.

I can't answer the part about public transportation as we were in the area with a group, but the Hotel de Paris is just gorgeous and I personally feel that Monte Carlo is a nicer place to stay than Nice. We were able to easily visit all the places that you named on excursions from Monte Carlo.

Ann: I've stayed in Nice - there are so many thing to do in that area, but I'm not so sure about public transportation from Monte Carlo. We rented a car. You might find some helpful information at this link: Monaco Tourist Information

We loved Nice, the flower market, shops, restaurants (not that MC isn't gorgeous) but Nice was just fun! Spending a night there on our way to June 7th cruise leaving from MC - joanna

Hi. We stayed at Hôtel de Paris in the mid '90s; sorry I can't remember the year. We have always rented a car, so can't help with the public transportation question but the folks at the concierge desk were extraordinarily helpful and they will arrange anything for you or supply any information. I'd contact them directly to discuss logistics. The spa was gorgeous -- I recommend making appointments now, a great way to unwind before dressing for the casino. Editing to add that they had a beach club with hotel rooms just across the western border inside France with a pretty terrace restaurant.
I prefer Nice to Monte-Carlo, which is just too clean and neat a place for the likes of me. The Negresco has a great location for a first-timer to Nice.
