There is absolutely no reason to go near Somali coast going from Mombassa to Seychelles. The Spirit was off of Somalia because she was sailing down from Suez Canal. I bet next time she will sail farther off coast.
The Gulf of Aden is well patrolled; I can't imagine a pirate danger there.
