We just got home from our drive to Waco where we received our first vaccination. They had it set up in the Convention center, and it was VERY organized! We were impressed. And it didn't hurt a bit!

They gave us a CDC "COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card" showing the first dose given (Moderna) and when the next one was due.

They did not have the system set up yet for making an appointment for the second dose, but they gave us link to do so, and said to keep checking (they will also send us text message).

You do not have to go back to the same provider for the second dose, but it is still unknown if any of our local providers will have an adequate supply for secondary doses for people that did not receive their initial doses from them. Supposedly the centralized national registration system keeps a record of initial doses given and automatically sends enough vaccine to each provider to cover their anticipated second dose, along with more for initial doses.
