Regent didn't offer a tour to Kandy as far as I know - probably due to the time in each port, but since we couldn't tender in Galle and they moved on to Columbo maybe it would have been possible. I see you did have Galle as a stop - another reason to take a smaller ship, or maybe you had calmer seas.
I'm with you on the private excursions - we were all looking longingly at those Kerala houseboats while we were perched on our plastic chairs!
