The Indonesian waters are supposed to be bad for pirates too. In fact the worse waters in the world. On the Mariner there were water hoses manned 24 hours a day on each side of the ship. We went to look late at night and there were people on duty at the hoses. We were running most of the time at a pretty high speed. They bought up the threat of pirates in our daily newspaper and said we needed to always keep our balcony doors locked. I have to admit I thought that was strange as I never thought small pirate boats would even consider attacking a large cruise ship.

I was so shocked when I heard about Seabourn. Of course the Seabourn ships are at lot smaller, however, I was still suprised they would try to hit a passenger ship at all.
