Well, I've seen at least one large ship in FP while on the Paul Gauguin, and yes, they had to moor a bit further out, but they made it into the lagoon (Bora Bora I think). So I doubt if it would make a big difference. (I think it was the Dawn Princess, so one could compare drafts I guess.)
