Dubrovnik, Croatia-This half day tour is an excellent option for those who wish to sit back and relax while seeing charming towns in the beautiful Croatian countryside. The highlight will be a visit to a typical country home to sample local cheese and wine. Your guide will meet you at the pier of Dubrovnik to begin your journey.
Your first stop is the city of Cavtat which was originally a Greek settlement called Epidaurus. Around 228 BC it became a Roman colony, and today Cavtat is one of the southern most cities in Croatia. Your guide will lead you through the town to see her quaint homes, beautiful palaces and luxuriant vegetation. After visiting Cavtat you'll continue into the Konavle region.
At the small village of Poljica you'll stop to see a traditional mill. While there you'll enjoy a small snack of prošek (sweet wine), home made cheese, bread and Croatian wine. These traditional foods have been prepared locally in this way for over a hundred years.
Finally you'll get to explore where few tourists ever dream of visiting. A typical Konavle style house, in the Glavic family for generations, will be happily opened to you. The family will welcome you as their guests and you will learn firsthand about hospitality in this part of the world. You'll see how the local people produce grape brandy, olive oil and wine in the traditional Croatian way. And you'll have the chance to take home some of the home made products and hand-work made in the region.
Finally your driver and your guide will return you to your ship.
