In Paris, French friends put us up in the Hotel de St. Peres on, what else, the Rue de St. Peres just off Blvd. Saint Germain-des-Pres on the Left Bank, a block from the center of things, and an easy walk to the S. A delightful small hotel, exceptionally nice, helps if you speak some French but not absolutely essential, we didn't think, although it may be difficult to make reservations without speaking some French, (or having someone who does make them for you). We absolutely loved it!
