Great news Susan happy to hear you have had your first dose. We are on our county list and also on some other lists. Waiting patiently for an appointment.
Sorry you had a reaction on the second shot but hopefully it will pass quickly.

Wow! Hub in Waco had 1500 slots - filled up in less than an hour. Thank goodness we got a slot as soon as they opened up.

Cindy, I didn't think Waco; have been trying to get one of Austin's 12,000 doses but they still don't have them up on their website. Pretty miserable that Williamson County is slated to only get 600 doses this week.

We are not happy with WA state. They have the phases scheduled out to May, and as of yet no mention of those 65 and older. 75 and older are in the 2nd phase.

Feeling much better today. Still a bit sore and tired, not much energy, but able to deal with it. George has an appointment in Collensville for his first shot on Thursday. Here at least, it is easier to get appointments in more rural areas.

Mona and I got our first doses today at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, where we are patients. In Florida everyone 65+ is in Phase One. The process at Mayo was extremely professional and efficient. But appointments in our area are still not easy to get and there have been a lot of problems with distribution.

Here in Los Angeles County there is no discernible mechanism in place to get an appointment or even on a wait list. We are in Tier 1B but no way to figure out when we might qualify for the shot. Very frustrating and disappointing especially in light of the very scary numbers here. Hopefully this will be turned around soon. ———————- Helen

Ditto Helen here in Orange County (funny we live 20 minutes apart but 2 different counties). We have no idea when we'll get the vaccine. I think we could also be Tier 1B ??? My sister and nephew both had very mild case of Covid about 1 month ago. (We haven't seen either since March).
We have 2 rescued Covid kittens that are scared to death of anyone but Tom and me. They've had NO contact with visitors coming or going in our home like normal times. No way of socializing them. They like our 2 dogs though.

Thanks for the link Marc. I just got a LA Covid Vaccine Newsletter (!?) and it looks like my group 1B Tier 2 should expect to get vaccinated by late March. 🥴 ——————— Helen

MooSa - While I agree with you that there is much to be unhappy about regarding Washington State's miserable vaccination rate to this point, I will respectfully point out that your statement describing the age for phases is not accurate. In fact, the next phase, Phase 1B1 - (Tier 1) - is for the following: •All people 70 years and older •People 50 years and older who live in multigenerational households. Pat & I hope to get our first shot by the end of the month. (Yes, you're right about my avatar not looking like I should be in that 70+ tier. The photo was taken on the PG about a hundred years ago. )

Tiers are totally different for every state. I was a 1 A in Oklahoma, and have gotten both injections. George is a 2, being over 65. He is scheduled for Thursday.

Tuesday: Jan will be going at 10:30 am today to get her 1st shot. Since she still works PT in charge of the Risk Management division of Montana Health Network she is eligible. I am in the next group coming up in a week or two.

You may all be getting the vaccine sooner than expected. The federal government is now pushing to start vaccinating everyone 65 and older.

Texas has designated major hubs throughout Texas for week 5, where most of the vaccine will go. Included in the Dallas area there are 6 hubs. Ken is registered with 3 of those hubs I am registered with 2 of those hubs.
Got an email this morning from Baylor that they are about to start scheduling appointments and we will be notified on our portal. They are not a hub unfortunately but obviously have or are going to get more vaccine next week as well.
It is coming for us and hopefully in the next week or two.
I checked South Africa as our next trip is the safari in June. As usual contradictory information. However I did find this which made me happy. South Africa was a major testing site for the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine so hopefully they will get a good supply of that vaccine. This vaccine as everyone probably already knows is now being distributed in the UK.
JOHANNESBURG—South Africa will start rolling out Covid-19 vaccines without requiring local regulatory approval of the shots, a step that other low- and middle-income countries scrambling to inoculate their populations against the coronavirus are expected to follow.
South Africa’s health ministry said the country will in January receive 1 million doses of the vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca PLC from the Serum Institute of India, which has an agreement to manufacture and distribute the shots. A second shipment of 500,000 doses is expected for February. The vaccine requires two doses to reach its full effect. Other countries across Subsaharan Africa and the developing world are likely to emulate South Africa’s decision to bypass local regulators in an effort to expedite getting shots for at least some of their most-at-risk citizens. Some lack their own national drug-approval authorities and are expected to rely on certification from the World Health Organization for rolling out Covid-19

We are now registered at vaccine providers in five counties. I know at least one of them will come through in next couple of weeks; what is somewhat of concern to me is getting the second appointment as it needs to be the same vaccine and 21 or 28 days later (depending on vaccine). For those that have been successful in Texas, did they make second appointment when you went in for first dose?

Marc, the answer is yes. I haven't received the vaccine yet, but my son who is an ER/Trauma Surgeon has. He's already had both injections. Also I saw on the local news that they will give you a card after the first injection with the appointment for the second one. After both injections they give you a "Covid Passport" that proves you've had the vaccine.

Once we all get vaccinated (at least first shot) we should have a Dallas or Ft Worth Lunch; been too long.

We just got home from our drive to Waco where we received our first vaccination. They had it set up in the Convention center, and it was VERY organized! We were impressed. And it didn't hurt a bit!
They gave us a CDC "COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card" showing the first dose given (Moderna) and when the next one was due.
They did not have the system set up yet for making an appointment for the second dose, but they gave us link to do so, and said to keep checking (they will also send us text message).
You do not have to go back to the same provider for the second dose, but it is still unknown if any of our local providers will have an adequate supply for secondary doses for people that did not receive their initial doses from them. Supposedly the centralized national registration system keeps a record of initial doses given and automatically sends enough vaccine to each provider to cover their anticipated second dose, along with more for initial doses.

Hi Marcie! I saw today that OC is taking vaccine appointments at othena.com. I think this may be for the vaccination center at Disneyland. I am not in the current tier group (65+), so I couldn't see what the appointment system is like, but I registered to be notified when I'm eligible. Also, I received an email yesterday from Hoag (my network) which says they are setting up for vaccinations and will notify me when eligible. Looks like progress is being made.

Thanks Dena. I went on the site and registered. I meet the over 65 but am not an essential first responder (except for Tom and our 4 pets 😳). They're going to contact me when it's my turn to book an appointment.

Julie called and said Parkland was scheduling appointments for 1B. She was on the phone and set up the login for both Ken and I. We have first appointment January 30th at 8.30 am and 8.40 am. Second appointments set for February 25th for me at 3.00 pm and February 26th at 8.00am. About a 45 - 60 minute drive but tickled to have appointments scheduled. YAHOO!! Bless Julie! Pretty sure it will be Moderna it is college campus that is being used for the vaccinations.

We both have appointments in Killeen on 3 February; now we just need to avoid contracting the virus a while longer; would hate to get infected right before vaccination.
edited to add: I think it was a computer quirk but we now have appointments in Killeen next Monday. Confirmation printed so we will see if they accept us.

George got his first shot Thursday in Collinsville. Here inOklahoma at least, if you are willing to go out to a rural area, you are much more likely to find appointments. He didn’t mind making the drive.
Oldest son (law enforcement), his wife (hospital worker), and myself have all had both shots. Younger son and his wife had the disease and recovered, so I am feeling good about our immediate family. Can’t wait to sail again.

Our shots got moved to an earlier date January 28 and will be Pfizer now. Second shot is sooner with Pfizer on February 17th. Plus we are both going on the same days now just about an hour part each day and it is half the distance from our house at Parkland Hospital. So we are very happy with that change.
In Dallas they offered to people not qualified yet for the shot to go to a major vaccination hub in Fair Park in Dallas and work for the day. At the end of the day they get the Covid vaccination for their days work. One of Julie's friends did that and said it was not hard work and she was happy to help and get the shot. To me it seems like a pretty good idea as it takes a lot of manpower to handle all the people and anyone anxious to get the shot has the chance to get it and help with the vaccination procedure as well. However, you will be around crowds of people all day and that has it own risks. Not sure I would do that.

Although I don’t live there I do work in Orange County so I registered last week for Disneyland vaccine site but have not been able to get an appointment. Today LA County decided to open vaccines up for over 65 and I scored appointments for me and Jerry for Pfizer vaccine on Saturday at the LA County fairgrounds! Yay! Fingers crossed they don’t run out before then! ———————- Helen

We won't be able to get the vaccine until maybe the end of March but the news I didn't want to hear was that international travel for Aussies is unlikely to be before the end of this year! Please feel free to correct me!

Joan and I got our first Covid vaccinations at Petco Park today. It’s a strange system. Yesterday they were opening and closing appointment times for today willy-nilly. It was luck of the draw as to how long it took to get a vaccination. Joan went early this morning and probably was done in half an hour. I went late morning and it took about two hours. Since they use the Moderna vaccine, our second vaccinations are scheduled for February 17.

Just glad you both have the first shots done. These vaccinations HUBS are the way to go to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible. Definitely have to be proactive in most cases rather than just sit and wait for someone to contact you.

Our local hospital is giving the shots. In last nights local paper it said you have two choices. 1. Go to web site and find Covid site and sign up for appointment OR 2. Call this phone number 233- 2500 and expect a wait for operator to sign up.
So I look on line at the web site. Nothing unless you are in Billings or State of Colorado? So I called the number. After about 5 minute wait talked to someone. Sorry we are full so are not taking appointments for tomorrow. So I asked if I could make an appointment for the next day they are giving shots or at least get my name on a list. Answer. Sorry call back Monday we are not doing that.
