We boarded Voyager on Monday and it's great to be back! We've missed her and her outstanding crew! So nice to see some familiar faces among the crew.

We were a day late leaving Cape Town and missed our first port. There was a low pressure system causing 21 foot swells, so the Captain decided to stay in Cape Town overnight. The next morning, swells were down to around 12 feet as we sailed around the Cape, and there were a few on board that were not feeling so good, but we did fine. Today we have our first port of call at Durban.

We enjoyed a pre-cruise safari at Kapama River Lodge at Hoedspruit. The lodge was not so great, but we had some good game sightings (at least for us since this was our first safari!). Here are a few photos.

Great pictures! Kapana is in a great area for game. Northern Sabi Sands. In the end the game is what it is all about. There are fabulous lodges in that area with a much higher price tag. However you have some great sightings, to see a nice male lion and some little cubs that was great lion for sure.

Makes me want to go back but I have to wait until July.

Sorry I haven't posted much here! I tend to post most of my updates and photos on Facebook, as I like to be able to share pictures with the crew.

We have been enjoying being on the ship and having fun with the outstanding crew onboard.

Ports we have made so far include Durban, South Africa, Richards Bay, South Africa, Maputo, Mozambique, and Madagascar. We didn’t do a tour in Durban as they brought a priest on board to celebrate Christmas Mass in the late afternoon, and we wanted to be there for that. In Richards Bay we did a tour to the wetlands and saw some hippos.

[Linked Image]
Maputo was not a very enjoyable stop – not a port we would want to visit again!

Loved Madagascar. It is a beautiful place and would have liked to have spent a little more time there (only there for about 6 hours). We did a tour to see the lemurs. The tour itself was a bit disappointing. We did see a few lemurs, but there were way too many tour groups and too few lemurs. By the time our group got there, they weren’t very hungry anymore so we couldn’t coax any of them to come sit on our shoulders.

[Linked Image]
We didn't do a tour in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Most of the tours were quite long so we just stayed onboard.

Quite a big New Years Eve celebration onboard!

At Zanzibar we had a very well done tour to the Jozani Forest. Got to see lots of Colobus monkeys up close and personal. And the mangrove walk was interesting. Had a very good guide.

Today we are in Mombasa, Kenya, and we have a tour this afternoon.

One evening we had our waiter Sugi plan an Indonesian meal for us so we could sample dishes from his home country. It was quite delicious!

Lot's of sea days on this itinerary and we are enjoying them!

Yesterday we were in the Seychelles - our first time there and it was quite beautiful - but unfortunately the ship only stayed there a few hours! We did a catamaran boat ride and I did a little snorkeling.

Loved reading your post Cindy and really enjoyed the pictures. The lemurs are precious and we only saw a few as well. I think if we go there again we are going to go to the zoo like park where they have a lot of lemurs. Not the same experience you have in the wild but we have had that now. Just want to see more lemurs. Did you see the chamelions? I thought they were amazing.

We like the Seychelles as well.

Keep having fun will check back here and thanks for taking the time to also post on LCT.

Our guide told us about the zoo park as well, and if we had been there longer we would have gone - he said they had several different types of lemurs there. Maybe next time! We enjoyed the chameleons as well - there were lots of them and very entertaining!

They held the annual White Elephant Sale benefiting the crew welfare fund a week or so back, and David and I were fortunate to have the high bid for the "Dinner with the Crew" which allowed us to ask 2 members of the crew to join us for dinner in the Compass Rose. We invited waiter Sugi and sommelier I Nyoman. It was so much fun! We had a great time. Just a small way of letting them know how very much we appreciate their service.

I have only seen the fund raising once. I loved it and so nice to see the $$ go into the crew fund. Wish they would do it more often. So much fun. Keep posting enjoying sharing your adventures with you.

Haven’t posted much lately - internet has been slow or non-existent, or we have been busy onshore on tours. Anyway, here’s where we have been since the last post...

Stopped in Mahe, Maldives. Unfortunately, we did not get to go snorkeling here – they only had 36 slots on the snorkeling excursions for a boat of over 700 passengers, and we didn’t make the cut. Very disappointing as the water was beautiful – maybe next time. We just did a short little walking tour around the town.

Next stop was Colombo, Sri Lanka, where we did a city tour, went to a so-so museum and visited Gangaramaya Buddhist temple.

After a couple of sea days, we stopped at Sebang, Indonesia which is on Weh Island. This was the ships first time to visit this port, so they had quite the fanfare welcoming us. This is a very beautiful island. We did a tour where they took us on a van ride across part of the island and we visited a little oceanfront village. The water was crystal clear, and lush vegetation everywhere. The people were very gracious, but they still have a little work to do in the organization of the tours.

Next stop was Phuket, Thailand. Although there is beautiful water and great snorkeling around here, the ship did not offer any boat excursions at all. So we did a short tour which included a visit to Wat Chalong Buddhist temple and an elephant camp. We have hired a boat to take us site seeing when we return to Phuket next week.

Our next 2 ports were Penang, Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Malaysia. Since we are returning to both of these ports on the next cruise segment, we decided to stay on the ship. We’ll do the shore excursions when we return.

We did have a great experience while we were in Port Klang. We got to have a private tour of the bridge (it was another of the While Elephant Sale prizes benefiting the crew welfare fund). We both enjoyed it, but David especially. He had a list of questions to ask and he got answers to all of them. Our guide was first officer Volodymyr Shushlyavin – very nice young man.

Yesterday was disembarkation day in Singapore for most passengers (only 37 of us stayed onboard for the next segment), and a new group will come aboard. The ship provided a tour of Singapore for our group who were staying onboard. We had a tour of the city and sampled the signature Singapore Sling at the legendary Raffles Hotel.

Lot's of new folks came onboard. Saw Peggy and Jerry by the pool grill yesterday, and we met Cheron and Mark today. So far haven't seen Linda and Ron or met Olivia.

Since we left Singapore, we returned to the ports of Penang, Malaysia and Sebang, Indonesia. We did a tour in Penang since we skipped the tour the first time we were there.

We are scheduled to arrive in Yangon this afternoon. Originally scheduled to arrive around noon, but now pushed up to 3:00pm. Several tours leaving after arrival and will get back to the ship late. Full day of tours tomorrow. This should be a really interesting port - new for most all of us.
