Anyone have a good recommendation for either of these cities that is a little less expensive but still about a four star?

We stayed at the Langham Place in Hong Kong last fall and got an incredible deal that included a a really good rate, breakfast, dinner and some other perks. I think it was called "One Big Deal" or something like that and you had to kind of search for it on the Langham website. The hotel is not on the harbor, it's back in the city near the Jade Market and right across from a large mall with tons of restaurants. We loved that hotel.

Beijing: The Hilton a block from Wang Fujing Avenue was lovely. We also liked the Opposite House (near the Pearl Market), which was in an upscale neighborhood that is nice to walk around. The Hilton was much better than normal Hiltons and is a 5 star. It had good deals and great restaurants and was walking distance everywhere. It is down the road from Regent, but closer to the main shopping district. The Opposite House was a boutique hotel with just about every amenity you can think of. We were upgraded to a 900 sq foot room. Service at both were excellent and hotel restaurants were superb. Rooms, including bathrooms, were gorgeous and large. The Hilton room is marble and glass and the Opposite house is made totally of teak wood (including the large soaking tub). Both are modern and plush in decor.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza on Wang Fujing Avenue in Beijing and thought that it was lovely and well located.

We were put up by Regent (then Radisson) at the China World Hotel which was near the convention center. It was really fabulous. Not sure about cost tho since I didnt pay for it.
