Any recommedations for a hotel to stay one night prior to our October cruise. Would prefer something close to the pier.

Thanks

Walter

Walter, if you are a member of Starwood program, I suggest the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel. It is on the beach, newly renovated and close to the pier and airport.
We stayed there last year before our cruise and loved it. We usually stay at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 but I felt that that hotel was getting rundown and dated. The rooms at the Sheraton are very nice and big, the bar area is cozy and the pool area was very nice and has a swim up bar.

We are staying there again before our next cruise and I booked it using 4800 points and I think $50 in cash?? I can't remember for sure it that was the cash portion but it was something like that.
I think it's 7000 points if you don't want to pay any cash and around $160 average for the room without points.

Recently I found a great rate at Pier 66 - better than the Embassy Suites rates! We'll look out our window at the ships as the dock in the early morning!

We have used the Hyatt Place and liked that, very reasonable, between the airport and pier, nice continental breakfast. Not fancy lobby but spacious rooms.

Here is a list of hotels near Port Everglades that offer shuttle service. According to this list Hyatt Place offers transfers from the airport and to the pier (verify direct with hotel). http://www.sunny.org/visitors/cruiseandplay/hotels/

The new Simply Hotel for Silversea in FLL is Hyatt Pier 66, vice Embassy Suites. Don't know exactly when the switch takes place, but it is so for our Dec cruise. The Grand Hotel for SS is Ritz Carlton.
