We officially booked today for the last 2 segments Cape Town to Rio to FLL. We're in Cat. E, Cabin #615. We're also doing Ngaire's 3 night pre-cruise safari and 2 nights in Birkenhead. YIPPEE!!

Thanks Donna! I guess it's kind of a cruise and ROAR rolled into one. Best thing is only 1 way LONG flight to Africa!!

Booked last 2 segments Navigator CT to FL 27 great nights ...looking forward to Navigator first time, no Xmas stress/decorating (much like Lamb), and good LCT friends - difficult to get Tony to turn down a "Tony/Tom reunion" Joanna :3smile: :3smile:

That's great, Joanna. This is starting to shape up as a big LCT party! Now, if everyone can get on deck 6 forward (that's where Beth and I are booked), we can really get rocking!
Tell me if I have this right re who is on the DC or segments thereof:
Jan & Fred (Athens to FLL) Ardis & Stan (Athens to FLL) Tina & Lou (MC to FLL) Marcie & Tom (CT to FLL) Joanna & Tony (CT to FLL) Beth and me (Athens to FLL) and, waitlisted, Ted (hrprof) and spouse or partner(Ted, you refer to "we", so I assume there's someone) and, maybe Jim (jbittle) & wife.
Anyone else?

I thinking about it. Have been since the schedule came out. CT to Rio, maybe on to FLL. No safari - too much $$ with no single supplement and for that long flight I would have to spring for Biz Air. Priorities. So I'll keep on thinking and probably get shut out, but there is always another year.

Betty, like you've I've been eyeing this since it came out. The CT to FLL is very tempting. Adding the pre-safari seems like the best of both worlds. We'll see. So much going on, I can hardly keep my head above water. Life is fun!
Joanna, congratulations. What a great cruise.

Beth, I thought the same thing when I saw you had signed up. Do you think our talk could bore people to death? Donna, hate to go all that way and not do a safari, but a retired librarian's resources are limited. I feel very luck to be able to do everything I am doing. That would make 2 Christmases we wouldn't have to decorate.

Betty, I understand the non-safari part. One reason we are considering this trip is it would add a cruise to our travels next year. If we do ROAR II, there probably won't be any cruises in 2008 so this makes a good compromise.
Beth, right now, we're just "thinking about it." this cruise with pre-safari is a great trip but so is ROAR II. Hard to pick one over the other. It somewhat depends on obtaining United ff miles for business tickets. Not sure how to do that with the cruise and possible one-way ticket.
Much depends on Christmas plans for 2008. Kids were committed to other plans this year so the decision was easy. Don't know about next year yet. They are going to flip when the next time we talk on the phone I say, "Do you think I will be seeing you in 2008 during the holidays?" Alan and I are the only ones who are planning schedules that far ahead. Heck, we're already drooling over 2009.
Well, this is fun to think about.

this cruise with pre-safari is a great trip but so is ROAR II. Hard to pick one over the other Donna, Exactly what Tom and I have been talking about the past couple of days. Personally, I can't imagine going to So.Africa and not doing a safari. It really is special but it's also $$$$. It really is a tough call! Beth, since we have already been to Madikwe, Ngaire is suggesting that we may want to do our 3 night safari at one of the other camps. There are so many great ones to choose from. We think that makes sense so we'd likely not be with you on the safari part BUT will be with you at Birkenhead and of course the cruise.

Gosh, the list of great LCT'ers for the DC just keeps getting better and better. I hope by the time we are on CROSS there is a suite left for us to book for the last segment!

Marcie, Beth and I are not doing Birkenhead--just Madikwe Hills. We'll return to the ship from there on the 20th.
