Good news for all of you booked on the new Silversea Origin Galapagos voyages including the August 21, 2021 Clay escorted or August 28, 2021, Ngaire escorted cruises. No covid testing required if you are fully vaccinated. Hope many other countries follow this lead. So now CDC advised vaccinated people do not have to take a covid test to fly internationally unless the final destination requires the covid test. Of course almost all countries except Iceland and Ecuador require a test right now. May be other countries as well that are open that I do not know about. Hopefully more countries will follow the same policy. https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/02/health/cdc-travel-guidance-fully-vaccinated-wellness/index.html Just want South Africa to adopt that policy for our safaris in June 2021. Lodges are really helping though they have services that come directly to the lodge to do the test. Results sent by email and printed out by the lodges. Now if the CDC will come out with less restrictive directives for cruises we would all be happy. An article stated that this might be coming. I certainly hope so!

Very well written letter; the onus is now on CDC on why not to approve. Popcorn is ready to watch the back and forth.

I just read that travel insurance uis now required to enter the Galapagos. This is a new thing because George and I have been there twice before and didn’t have to have it. Our trip Is now a month away, so I am panicking a bit. We have never bought travel Insurance before. Any recommendations?

Rachel I usually go to Insure My Trip .com. You can get a list of companies with their AAA Best ratings, what they will cover and at what price. —————— Helen

"Passengers must show proof of health or travel insurance to enter the Galapagos Islands." Is our Medicare cards enough? Travel insurance not required?

Medicare doesn’t cover care outside the US. Some supplemental plans do—George’s does. And my regular insurance covers emergency care outside the US, but the way I read the requirements on the website, you actually have to have travel policy. It only cost $85 total to cover the two of us.

Hi Maddy & Paul! I got what Ngaire called "zero band" travel insurance for our trip to South Africa which required travel insurance that covers medical but does not cover any trip costs. It was around $80 like Rachel said. Jennifer at KLT can get a quote for you.
