Received an email to day that had this information about South Georgia. It is an amazing island full of wildlife and next to being on Safari this is one of my favorite spots on earth. World’s biggest iceberg likely to collide with remote island this month
Imagine standing on a beach and seeing a giant iceberg - stretching in either direction as far as the eye could see - headed straight for you on the incoming waves. Antarctic iceberg A-68A is heading straight for South Georgia, a remote, uninhabited island in the southern Atlantic Ocean. The giant iceberg is about the same size as the island. It could ground in the shallow waters offshore South Georgia this month, menacing the island's penguins and seals, which need access to the sea to feed. Hopefully the currents will change the direction of this iceberg. LInk to more information. https://earthsky.org/earth/biggest-...m_term=0_c643945d79-5a00cac3b5-394105733

Let's pray that does not happen! South Georgia was a totally amazing experience for us.

I wonder how we can keep an eye on this Ngaire. Do you have a source for periodic info?

Here’s an update from the BBC. ( Iceberg Update) The iceberg is starting to break apart and may loop around South Georgia.

Just heard about an interesting site: shackelton100.com It's an interactive site with many facts about Antarctica in general and Shackelton in particular. There are many pictures of the places we visited in January and some we didn't. Fun to do during a quarantine or anytime!
