Here it is, your Daily Dreidel ...

Don't forget that everyone who did not choose a Daily Dreidel option can still play for the face value, 400 points. And the category remains in play until I certify the first correct response. So don't not play (you know what I mean, right?) just because others have already responded.

Ms Understood and Davefr are on the sidelines until regular play resumes, probably tomorrow.

Good luck everyone!

That's where I was headed too, Suzanne. But I wasn't sure if it was a specific shop that was famous for tourists. So, I was looking up and down the street on Google Maps, street view!

Well, there's Head Rush smoke shop, but I'm thinking the "tourist attraction" is just "The Haight". We'll see!

+400 for the Clayton Cruiser!

But it's not a runaway. There are still 3400 points left on the board. Do you believe in miracles?

I'm not sure when I will start the game up again tomorrow - maybe not until noon, Pacific time.

The end is nigh ... of the game, that is. Goodnight now.

I owned that album, probably bought on vinyl at Vogels, Elizabeth, New Jersey for $3.87. And while Grace Slick still gave cause to pause for young men and boys, the re-branding of Airplane to Starship now makes me think of New Coke. Mrs Langton says that I need a third sentence to make this a good paragraph, so this is that.

Oh no, I've gone out of character!

Well, I thought that was exciting! <=== See there; that's a Canadian exclamation point.

There were two players going "all-in" ... and my heart stopped momentarily. Then the paramedics violated my personal space for a false alarm. And then, all the suspense, waiting for the the game leader to post a Daily Dreidel option, well that left me on the edge of my keyboard. It never came, but I know that was just strategic planning for the end game. All good stuff!

Are you still enjoying the game, or can I take your plate away now?

Good afternoon. Here's your Thursday recap:

These are the remaining categories and amounts:

scrambled movies (500)
sure excursions (500)
new: name that psychedelic rock song (400, 500)
kenjenpourri (new values*: 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000)

You can also see that graphically on drib critic:

https://dribcritic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1169

Vin Scully taught  me that you can never tell the score too often, so here is that:

Scoreboard:
  • Fogmalkin: +2500
  • Davefr: +1002
  • Marc: +600
  • Freddie: +410
  • Mrs. Marc: +300
  • Seadog: +200
  • Ms Understood: +0
  • petlover: +0

Scrambled movies, 500, is still available if anyone wants to take a stab it at. I'll even give you a hint, because you probably think it's a minor movie. There are three bonafide stars in it. Two of the stars combined for two Oscars for acting, and were nominated another 8 times. The third star has one best actor nomination, and got all handsy with Jessica Rabbit backstage.

And I bet you're expecting me to continue in "sure excursions." But nooooooooo. I'm going to throw a curve ball and switch back to the replacement category for the rest of "portmanteau cruise lines." Here it is ...

No matter what, the game ends today. If there is a tie, there will be a one clue shootout to determine the winner. Only the winner gets to exchange their points for OBC **, but all contestants can take their points home as souvenirs, along with my thanks. At the end, I'll post the un-answered clues, and you can nosh on those if you have nothing else to chew.

Okay, then, let's keep on keeping on.

*  Just like the cruise lines offering more OBC when things aren't selling well!

That is so sick! (I know, bad choice of words, times being what they are.)

+500!

This game is officially a runaway. There are 3000 (inflated) points available and the amazing Fogmalkin has a 3398 point lead. So, I'm calling it:

Quote
March 26, 2020,
12:55 pm Pacific Daylight time,
klt jeopardy! is over, and
we all have a new champion:

Fogmalkin

Long may she reign!

Final Scoreboard:

  • Marc: +600

  • Mrs. Marc: +300
  • Seadog: +200

Thank you to everyone who played the game, and also to everyone who just followed along. Bye now.

About the category "kenjenpourri," well, that was just me being lazy. I didn't have to prepare any clues there; I was just going to take Ken's #7 question from five of his weekly emails and rephrase it so that it can be answered as a question, for no apparent reason. I know a lot of you enjoy trivia, so if you didn't know about Ken's trivia by subscription, here is a link where you can sign up:

http://ken-jennings.com/blog/index.php?s=trivia

See the second box on the left, labeled "Tuesday Trivia." You'll understand what I mean about the #7 question once you've read a few.

I know that a few of you are familiar with dribnuts. This is a very early one from December 2015 (touched-up a little to make it more readable):

[Linked Image from bd-foto.com]

Any resemblance to actual persons is coincidental.

Did you know that Ngaire was once a dribnut? I think it was from April 2016, maybe before my first enhanced KLT cruise - I think it was called PALM. Anyway, I can't readily find that image, but maybe Ngaire still has it.

Regarding my name, I'm growing kind of fond of "dribs."

This is the current #7 from Ken Jennings Tuesday Trivia:

No, the answer is not that they are all KLT acronyms.(Nor that they were never KLT acronyms.)

And you can't search for the answer in his archive because he doesn't give out the answers until the following week.

What are animals used in the lyrics of Beatles songs?

"Blackbird", "Blue Jay Way", "A Hard Day's Night", "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite", "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey", "Octopus's Garden", "Piggies", "Rocky Raccoon", and "I Am the Walrus" (goo, goo g'joob)

I love music and am an avowed Beatlemaniac (we had a Beatles tribute band play at our wedding) so that's where my mind went...

Was this only a week ago?

KJ's answer was more specific:

I have the time, but not the energy, to search through all the lyrics to see if there are any other animals in the lyrics but not in the titles. So I'm just going to give you the points for a correct response.

What is Polythene Pam's last name (presumably)?

I'm not an expert on the subject, but I suspect there are clubs for all kinds of people, doing all kinds of things!
