Here are the categories: https://dribcritic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1169pass"ages" ... with ages in quotation marks, you know what that means that's entertainment ... each correct response can be made from the letters in the word "entertainment" name that tune ... these will all be show tunes today - you identify the song and the name of the show name that port ... I'll show you a photo and you identify its nearest cruise port portmanteau cruise lines ... our writers are having some fun now ... and kenjenpourri ... a triple portmanteau word featuring clues by all-time Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings I will be updating that first link to indicate which clues have already been played, and I may do that occasionally here, too, but in a non-graphic form, as follows: pass"ages" (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) that's entertainment (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) name that tune (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) name that port (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) portmanteau cruise lines (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) kenjenpourri (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) I will also update the scoreboard, like this: Scoreboard: Freddie: +10Freddie is starting out with 10 bonus points for being the first to volunteer. There are no daily doubles because those slow things down. If you're disappointed because you always wanted to say "I always wanted to say this ..." then go ahead and say it if it will make you feel better. We will be using the James Holzhauer Rule, meaning that all clues are given top/down, starting with 100. You can switch categories whenever you want, but you will always get the lowest value clue left on the board. All points represent OBC * and can be redeemed at the BOOTS event in October. I'll pick the first clue to get us started ... that's entertainment for 100 ... remember, each correct response can be made from the letters in the word "entertainment." Answer: Anyone can respond now. For no apparent reason, please phrase your response in the form of a question. Starting Tuesday morning, I'll be monitoring this thread frequently to award points for correct responses, or subtract points for incorrect ones. If you wish, you can switch categories when you respond, and that will save time. Otherwise, I'll just go to the next value, or if all clues have been played, start a new category for you. I may occasionally need to get a ruling from our judges, and you may not like it, but their decision is final. Finally, during down time, while you're waiting for me, please do introduce yourself, and perhaps tell us a humorous anecdote, maybe about an embarrassing moment on a cruise. * OBC = Only Broken Cookies. Each point is worth 1/10th of a cookie. I know, it's a crummy reward. (That's one of my charming little Canadian jokes!)

First clue, first conflagration on KLT Jeopardy! Judges? Marc, your response is ruled incomplete since it could have referred to Mitt Romney, who was born in Michigan (and his father was governor there!), or it could have meant a baseball mitt, which doesn't look enough like Lower Michigan. (Or an oven mitt, which is better, but have you ever heard anyone say that Michigan looks like an oven mitt?) However, you will not be penalized for a wrong answer, because ordinarily, you would have been given a chance to be more specific. Neat! By the way, I should have mentioned that if you finish KLT Jeopardy! in the negative, then your next cruise will have a one category degrade - from "G" to "H" or "H" to steerage, for example, without compensation, and that you agreed to this by clicking on this thread - because that's how it works on the Internets! Dave Fr, your response is somewhat akin to Cliff Clavin's Final Jeopardy! response on American TV! However, since you were the only one to request the next category, we will give you that ... stand by. You will be penalized for a wrong response, though. I hope you have a category above "H" for you next cruise. {chuckles} Oh well, there's plenty of time to get out of the red. Freddie ... +100!Scoreboard: Freddie: +110 Marc: 0 Dave Fr: -100Also tied for second ... Ms Understood: 0 Lee: 0 Ngaire: 0 petlover: 0 cruisinfanatic: 0 seadog: 0 Rachel G: 0 Ralph W: 0 S.A.F.: 0 S&K: 0 Karen S: 0 SusanH: 0 JimR: 0 jbittle: 0 lonestarlady: 0 jpnztutor: 0 adrenn: 0 ... and everyone else, because everyone can can play! Why shouldn't everyone be annoyed by our judges to distract them from the fact that they are not cruising right now? (What is ...) Next category, name that port for 100 ... Answer: the port city for this mosaic on spilled blood

DaveFr ... +200!Livorno is what we were going for, but we would have taken your original response, Pisa, as well. (That's right, I have eyes on the back of my emails!) Pisa being on the Arno river, named for that famous bodybuilder, movie star and ex-politico, Arno Schwarzenegger! Scoreboard: Freddie: +110 Dave Fr: +100 Marc: +100 Answer: the port nearest this presidential compound

Let's recap! These are the remaining categories and amounts: pass"ages" (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) that's entertainment (200, 300, 400, 500) name that tune (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) name that port (400, 500) portmanteau cruise lines (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) kenjenpourri (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) You can also see that graphically on drib critic: https://dribcritic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1169The current score is Scoreboard: Freddie: +110 Dave Fr: +100 Marc: +100 But remember, everyone can play, not just the three players with scores, above. And it's still anyone's game to win! Also remember that you're playing for cookie crumbs, and not to be cabin-degraded on your next voyage. The current answer is: the port nearest this presidential compound This is a difficult one and I'll flip over all the cards, so-to-speak, in one more hour. Would it help to know that the owner's initials were FDR - not that FDR - and that the nearest major cruise port is saintly? And while were waiting, let's Meet Marc! Marc ... Marcus Aurelius ...The Real McMarc! It says here, on this card, that you still have all your baby teeth. Tell us about that ...

Freddie ... +300!NB? Not Bad? {chuckles} Saint John, New Brunswick is correct! It's a goodly distance to Campobello, that I can tell you, but it's worth the extra time it takes to get there and back.If you're a history buff, you might appreciate these images and video from drib's collection: https://bigdogfoto.com/bdfoto/tinydancer/?path=f806e0edd9e7&ratings=345Scoreboard: Freddie: +410 Dave Fr: +100 Marc: +100 Answer: this port city is 11,662 miles from Scotland as the bird flies

Marc ... +500!I'm told that Marc is the Regent Ambassador for Arlene, and that's okay on KLT Jeopardy! Scoreboard: Arlene: +500 Marc: +500 Freddie: +410 Davefr: +100It's time for a new category, which I will choose ... and it's pass"ages" ... where all the correct responses will contain the word "ages." Answer: gif, jpg and png files, for example Remember that the lower value answers are a bit easier, and they get harder as we move down.

Marc ... +100!Marc posted his response just a few seconds before Freddie! Both were correct, but only Marc gets the points ... unless he wants to gift them to Freddie ... but then what would Arlene think? Anyway, let's move on. Scoreboard: Marc: +600 Arlene: +500 Freddie: +410 Davefr: +100The category is Name That Tune. These are all show tunes, and you must identify both the name of the song and the name of the show to get the points. The clues for all these are in the form of mp4 files. I don't see any KLT bbcode to present the file properly, but in my browser, it will open up and play the file in a new window. If that doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll post a link to drib critic, where I am writing parallel posts. Arlene's right, I disqualify myself. I didn't even listen to the song, just corrected your spelling of miserables. Not surprisingly, I'm confused? How did you get from Les Mis to Argentina without listening? In any event, the scores stand ... maybe I'll subtract 2 points later for not listening and the 300 answer is in play.
