One year from now this is the weekend of the KLT / Regent BOOTS EVENT. Barbecue Offering Opulence Texas Style. This weekend the weather is perfect, mid 80's low 60's and sunshine. Hopefully the same next year. Some things are in the works the most exciting is that Clay has a new house just 5 minutes from our new office and the STARS COMPLEX which will be headquarters central for BOOTS. No long bus rides - everything is very close.

Boots will be held at Clay's House.
This is a new house and is very large and SO PERFECT for our BOOTS celebration. Brooke had some stock options that funded and Clay wanted to move closer to the office. So they started looking. They found a brand new house that was not finished but was in litigation between the builder and owner. Everyone involved in the litigation wanted out and he got an incredible bargain on this amazing house. Way more house than they wanted or needed but a wonderful investment opportunity. He will be finishing up the house in the next few months and then moving over Thanksgiving. He sold his old house to neighbor in day. So things just worked perfectly. The plan is to sell it for the profit but I told him NO WAY he could sell until we have the BOOTS event.

The entire downstairs is party central. Plus an elevator for anyone that needs that. No need for a tent we have plenty of room "rain or shine" to seat everyone. Along with room for sit down full meal seating there is more than enough room for the casino as well. BIG BLUE his 20 ft smoker is still around but he will not be able to get that down to the party area. He has purchased a new professional commercial barbecue smoker on wheels that does not have the "wow factor" of BIG BLUE but he said does an amazing job cooking to perfection. As always Clay will cook the entire meal from scratch for about the 130 people in attendance. I am still amazed how he pulls that off so well. Food is always fantastic.

The hotel we will use is the OMNI hotel inside the STAR.
https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/frisco?utm_source=GMBlisting&utm_medium=organic
Brand new hotel with nice rooms and great facilities and reasonably priced for the quality and location in the STAR. Of course you can stay wherever you like this is where the tour morning tour and the bus transportation will be leaving from on Saturday night.

The STAR Complex
The Star is a 91-acre campus of the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and practice facility in Frisco, Texas. It was built by Jerry Jones the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Lots of restaurants, green areas and the OMNI hotel is very close to the new Cowboys training facility. Years ago we did a tour of the Cowboys Texas Stadium that was a lot of fun, everyone enjoyed it. This time we will walk just a few steps from the hotel to the Training facility for a tour - again far more interesting than you would imagine. From the hotel there is lots to see and do right outside. Families bring children who play in the green areas and have dinner in the Star. There are all types of restaurants from very reasonable to the very finest steak house. There are often exhibitions or events in the Tostitos Championship Plaza.

Jason Montague, President of Regent and Alex Sharpe, President of Signatures plan to be in attendance. Both super nice men and very down to earth and easy going people.

We will start working on the final plans about 6 months before the event. So we cannot take reservations until we get all the paperwork set up and will send out invitations with details and also post here on LCT. Only requirement is that to attend you must be an active KLT client. As always we will limit it to 100 guests plus Regent and KLT staff.

Ngaire, sounds fabulous as always, but I am a little confused since it is listed under 2021, but your post says a year from now which would be 2020 right?

It is 2020

I was living in the 2021 world when I first posted this and made that mistake. I am always working on things 2 years ahead. I got it corrected on the page that lists all the trips each year but it will not give me access to change the FORUM name but we will get that done.

Ngaire, will you be getting a group rate for Omni? I booked refundable AAA rate, just in case there wasn't a group.

thanks,

Marc

Marc we were going to do all this at the end of December but "my eye" happened then I went to Antarctica. So everything was delayed. Clay and I will start on this once I get my desk cleared up and get some details out as soon as we get organized.

Refresh my memory please...which airport is closest to Frisco ? I'm assuming this will be a "fly-in on Friday" and depart on Sunday ? (I should have remembered all this from the previous)

DFW is the main airport and Love Field is the smaller airport. Actually it is about equal distance. I looked it up online and DFW was 5 minutes closer than Love Field to the hotel we will use. Wherever you get the best airfare.

I am trying to talk Jan into a "road trip" and drive to Frisco. Course 1st of all I need to talk her into going. LOL

Would "BOOTS" be Friday - Saturday - Sunday October 16th, 17th, 18th or 23rd, 24th, 25th or still undecided?

Friday October 16 - Saturday October 17 (big event) Sunday October 18th. Some come in on Friday and stay to Monday morning. Everyone's choice as to arrival and departure but things do happen on all three days. Went to check out the Omni Hotel today and working on a special rate. Nice rooms and beautiful hotel. Should have a good special rate and working on all of this right now. Stayed tuned it will all be out before I leave on my next trip.

TOMORROW THE INVITATIONS AND DETAILS FOR BOOTS WILL BE HITTING YOUR EMAILS.

Even if you sent me an email saying you were coming you do need to RSVP as it is all automated and we are date and time stamping the responses. If we go over the 100 limit we will be using that date and time stamp to cover any cancellations. Got a SUPER rate on the hotel so very pleased about that.

All the details will be on the email - going to be the best EVENT ever I believe. It all seemed to come together so well and I love the hotel we are using in the heart of the Cowboys Star Complex the new HOT SPOT in town.

Invitation went out but some people say they did not get it. All our emails to multiple recipient's go out through Signatures, they control the database and email lists. The people who did not get it were definitely on the list. So if you did NOT receive it and want a copy please just email me and we will send one to you.

My invitation went to my junk email folder. I might have never seen it if not for JoAnn. This has been an issue with Comcast. Even if someone is in my senders list they will get sent to junk mail if Comcast determines the sender is putting out too many emails.

JUST FYI - Closed on Monday for Presidents day and next week it will be a skeleton staff at KLT due to the Splendor Christening.

Great group coming to BOOTS!! People who have come before and some new people as well.

Both Sunday events are sold out. Going to have to beg the restaurant for four more spots for Ken, Ngaire, Clay and Brooke. We may have to sit in a corner!

Just a few spots left to the 100 maximum capacity but will be there on Tuesday for sure as we know those RSVP's are coming cannot check it until Tuesday.

Everyone got a hotel room so that was good. I was worried about that. I think they gave us extra rooms - we will get the rooming list on Tuesday.

I really believe this will be the best event ever for so many reasons!

CONFIRMATION OF YOUR RSVP. When you submitted your RSVP the next screen was trying to sell the survey service. At the top of that screen in LIME GREEN it said "thank you for completing the survey" but many did not see that. NOT TO WORRY - when I get the hotel rooming list I will check the rooms booked against the RSVP list. If there are any rooms booked and NO RSVP then I will be in touch to complete your confirmation.

So if you do not hear from me and you know you have a hotel room then you know for sure you are on the RSVP list for Boots.

Ok, I am confused. I saw the survey but didn’t do it. We are doing our own hotel as there is a Hilton Curio property opening right by there, and George needs to stay there to promote his Hilton status. So how do I tell if we are included?

Yes OF COURSE you are included Rachel. So happy this time you can come.

You do not have to stay at the OMNI and you did fill in your RSVP because you are on the list. They just called the RSVP a "survey" as that is what they website specializesin I guess. Bottom line you fill it in and it goes on a spreadsheet. Works great for something like this!

I will match hotel reservations to RSVP list. Anybody not on both lists I would just contact.

I would have emailed you that you were confirmed for Boots but NO hotel. So I would ask if you were doing your own hotel or just not booked it yet. I have marked you down as your own hotel - you are all set.

We now know we are going to be WELL over our 100 limit. The response was far greater than we anticipated. If you are wondering if someone you know will be there the answer is probably YES!

The flexibility we have this time is that Clay's House is big enough to handle a lot of people. No way we could have had a bigger tent at Rodeo or had over 100 in our homes for Ho-Down and Hee Haw.

We do not want to say NO to anyone

Clay's house is big enough to handle everyone.
Clay said he can handle the cooking for boots - not sure how - but he said in his normal calm tone "no problem"
The hotel is way over the number of rooms they agreed to give us at that rate. But they are honoring that price for all the current reservations that was a great thing. Thank you all for jumping on the hotel right away!
We can get more Cowboy tickets.

The only issue is the Sunday Dinner! Thinking of a solution the only option may be same room - two meals at different times. I will have to check this out with the restaurant to be sure they can do a quick turn around for two dinners or if we need to go the lunch and dinner plan.

Same exact meal in the same nice private dining room!
Dinner: Early Seating and Late Seating
Or
Lunch after the Cowboys tour
Dinner at 7.00 pm.

So I got another email asking if BOOTS was still going to happen. In the past I have said we will not know until much closer to the time of the event. The social distancing aspect and if big groups are even allowed could be an issue.

I decided to check the OMNI Hotel in the Star that we are using to see when it was due to open. It is open now! We have been very lucky in Frisco. Now 31 active cases and the last two weeks there have been between 0 and 2 new cases daily. One day it increased to 3 cases. About 190,000 people live in Frisco. I go out to lunch every day and still wash my hands often but the odds of being in contact with the virus here are very low in comparison to so many other areas of the country. Dallas proper has more cases. People can come to Frisco from other areas of course - but I still think the odds here to stay "safe" are excellent.

Planes are flying the hotel is open! I saw on one of the many websites gatherings up to 300 for weddings or events are allowed but of course as much social distancing as possible. We are talking almost five months from now so unless a big relapse happens I think we will be okay.

It is up to everybody if they want to come. Right right now we have 172 people expected at the party that night. We also limited locals and will have a second gathering for them as it would have just become way too big.

So if even 50% come it will be a big event. Hard to envision social distancing though at an event like this! Clay's house and backyard area we can use is very large and can easily hold this many people with social distancing and without crowding if we can "think about it" that night. But being "together" is what it is all about.

At this time I think the odds of the event taking place are high and then it is simply up to each participant if they are comfortable in coming based on the situation in October!

NEWS first to LCT readers!

Sad to say BUT we feel we have no option but to postpone BOOTS. With the spikes in the virus we do not see things changing enough between now and October. An email will go out to everyone booked or cancelled today or tomorrow with more details.

We have rescheduled for Saturday September 11, 2021.

We have all the hotels bookings being automatically adjusted to the new dates. If you were coming in on Friday, October 16, 2020 and leaving on Monday, October 19, 2020 then your booking will be changed to Friday. September 10, 2021 and leaving on Monday, September 13, 2021. So if you are coming in 2021 no need to worry about hotel reservations.May take the Omni some time to get that all sorted out but happy they obliged us so everyone would not have to call. Pricing at $249 a night will stay the same.

We will have all the exact same events on the same days just the dates will change. We will leave everyone booked with the options they selected originally.

It was hard to find a date in the best weather months were all the KLT staff could be present and the people who always come were not on a cruise. Some tight connections either before departure or after returning from a cruise but this was the ONLY date we could find that would work. I am going to have to cancel my VOY210913 and have been in touch with some of those people already and will contact the others.

So not CANCELLED just POSTPONED! Hopefully everyone booked can still come on this date next year and those that cancelled can get their spot back on the list. Life will be more normal then and I want to HUG a lot of people not maintain a 6 ft distance!

Ngaire, another year before we see everyone; terrible! But the fact you were able to seamlessly postpone it a year; FANTASTIC! We are one of the tight ones just coming back from Navigator but we will be there with our BOOTS on!

Disappointing Ngaire, but no surprise. Thank you for handling the Omni Hotel on our behalf. We had AA tix booked. It's too early to rebook for Sept. 2021 so we'll probably take a voucher and when the schedules are out, rebook for 2021. Has anyone been able to get an AA refund if the flight isn't cancelled?

Difficult decision I am sure but under the circumstances the correct one.

Marcie, I got a refund for the AA flights from MIA to LAX that we had booked after the Rome to MIA cruise that June and I were on. Did the entire process online and it was easy. That said it was a couple of months ago now so do not know what AA is currently doing. I will try to do the same. Get a voucher so we can rebook the flight from SNA to DFW. That said I might try to just get money back and then rebook sometime in the future.

I called AA today and Tom got his FF miles refunded and taxes will go back on our Credit card.

Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky. I used Chase Ultimate Rewards points for my ticket. AA rep advised me to wait since COVID info hasn't been updated for October flights. Hopefully it will be updated to include cancelled October flights OR if there is a schedule change of more than 1 hour I can cancel with no penalty.

Marcie, I am in same boat with our post-TOTEM flight. Delta hasn't addressed October flights so I am just waiting for them to change the schedule by more than 90 minutes or cancel the flight. Alternatively, I am hoping the border stays closed into October so I can use that justification to cancel flight. What games we have to play.
