Heard from Marcie and thought I would share this email

We are having the BEST trip ever. The whole family is blown away. So far, everything has gone perfect.

We’re now at Kwandwe Ecca….it’s amazing. We are having such a fantastic time. Kwandwe Ecca is amazing, fabulous enormous accommodations, good food and 2 guides that are A +++ . The animals sightings have been outstanding here. Today we’ll do the rhino darting and they’ve decided to let ALL 10 of us go, even the young kids. The GM here is a great, very hands on guy who wants to make our trip perfect in every way. Tomorrow we’re off to Madikwe Hills.

Marcie

Thanks for keeping us up to date Ngaire. I have been wondering how they were doing. So great to know they are having fun. Must be so great for the little ones. Let us know if you hear anything more from them

From Marcie:

Dear Friends and family,

Internet is spotty. We’ve had an amazing time (maybe you’ve seen some photos on Facebook on Jill’s or my home page). We’ve arrived at Madikwe. The rhino darting /ear notching 2 days ago was so amazing(this is an important part of the conservation program) in Kwandwe where we stayed for 3 nights. The vet tranquilized a Momma and her baby calf as part of the anti poaching, support. The Vet is world renown Vet for large animals, Really a once in a life time experience. The 4 younger grandkids got to join us in this. They have been so well behaved and having such a great time. Here are some misc. photos. We’re now at Madikwe Hills. This is absolutely an amazing lodge. We have “Little Madikwe” which includes a gigantic family suite with our own chef, butler, driver and tracker (includes 2 other suites which we’re in one that is larger than our home!). We face onto a water hole that is loaded with elephants, zebras, impala….you name it. We’re seeing lots of young babies including Mom and 5 cheetah cubs and small little elephants. Can’t post all my many photos here.

Please feel free to share with others since I may not be able to send to everyone. This family safari is really a trip of a life time.
Love to all,
Marcie

It took me YEARS to see small cheetah cubs. It took the place of my desire to see Wild Dogs. Now we see wild dogs almost every year which is fantastic. We saw cheetah cubs for the first time last year at Tswalu. This is amazing they got to see cheetah cubs. From this picture I can see they are very young and still have their white mains. This must have been at Kwandwe as they have good cheetah and Madikwe only has about 8 cheetah and all adults.

So happy Marcie is having a great time. Next she goes to Jamala and that incredible watering hole with the elephants.

Hi all, just checking in from Jamala Madikwe. Between go go going and spotty internet I haven't been able to post, nor am I able to post photos here....but if you look on my facebook page I do have some that I could post.

This has been the most amazing trip including the days in Cape Town and the 3 safari camps we've stayed at: Kwandwe Ecca, Little Madikwe (private section for just our 10 family members within Madikwe Hills and Jamala Madikwe where we have exclusive use of all 5 villas. The 4 grandchildren have 2 of the 5 and loving being with their cousins. We've seen the Big 5 and so many other GREAT sightings including a colony of approximately 30 multi generations baboons multi including tiny babies, wild dogs, numerous rhinos, hippos, lion and cheetah cubs, just too many to try to mention here.

Last night we had a gorgeous candelabras on the table, magnificent boma (outside around a fire) dinner. After dinner we had a surprise (to us) visit from a village of approximately 20 very talented dancers and singer performing. Of course we all joined in learning their tribal dances they were teaching us. Our 2 granddaughters Kasey & Mia (9 and 8) & Grandpa Tommy were quick studies. As for the rest of us...well, lets just say we gave it our best with so many laughs our sides ached. What a fun night.

Other than the quality time spent together, the rhino darting/ ear notching of both a Momma and her calf may be the #1 event I'll never forget. We were so fortunate that all 10 of us could do this together as the minimum age normally is 16.

We've had fabulous sunny, warmer weather especially considering this is their winter. This morning on our game drive was the first day of cool weather and some very light sprinkles.

Hugs to all ! Off to finish an ongoing card game on the deck while we watch about 30 elephants at the water hole...tough life huh !

So happy for you and your family, Marcie! Sounds like one of the best trips of your life. I am so glad Greg and I traveled a lot when we were younger. It's become much more difficult now. So many people wait until they retire and they are less able to get around. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
