This cruise is undergoing some great changes. Price is going down as well. Not sure if all the changes are in place yet but it looks like the around $2500 per person. It appears to be a work in progress so I think we have to wait for the dust to settle to get the correct details.
We are pleased to inform you of several enhancements to your December 15, 2018 voyage aboard Seven Seas Mariner, sailing round-trip Sydney, Australia. In addition to the destination rich experiences our FREE Unlimited Shore Excursions already provide, we are delighted to now offer a FREE 1-Night Pre-Cruise Hotel and Dinner in Sydney, a FREE Exclusive Shoreside Event and a FREE Exclusive New Year’s Eve party ashore in Bali. Additional bespoke amenities are also being extended, including:
• FREE Onboard Medical Service • FREE Unlimited Laundry, Including Dry Cleaning and Pressing • FREE Phone Time Per Suite • FREE Commemorative Gift

Finally we got our air today. A challenge on the ships internet for sure.
We are flying business Singapore Airlines. SFO to Singapore to Sydney for 260,00 miles round trip per person.
American airline Flights with miles were 500,000 round trip per person Lax to Sydney.
So Singapore was 50% less than American. I think the connection is okay for that savings in miles. Plus Singapore flights are on the new Airbus 350 and Airbus 380. Happy campers.

Ngaire, Ken did real well on your award tix to/from Sydney esp as Marc told me doing it on board the Mariner.
We are flying from Atlanta on Korean Air BC (normally 97K miles pp but since holiday period 140K pp) to Sydney. For return, we have Singapore Air to Sydney (BC) for (58Kpp), then Korean Air (stop in ICN) to ATL (FC) for 95Kpp. Thought we were going to have to fly to LAX then schelp bags to either AA or Delta, but by working our return flight from SYD to Singapore got a one stop flight directly to ATL.
Award seats to/from Sydney/Auckland are notoriously difficult to snag

Anyone interested in getting tickets to Australian Open on 16 January? Looks like it will be second round of singles.

Just checked and saw that there are 130 D, E, and F cabins available; of course, no idea how many "guaranteed" cabins have been sold. Plenty of room to join the roll call for a fantastic trip.

Marc, Don't spend money on Aust Open tickets. For us full cruisers Regent is giving us a dinner by Centre Court and then we go in to watch some play and it's all included. Jim

FYI: If you call Regent reservations, they can sign you up for the New Year's Eve bash in Bali and/or the Australian Open excursion in Melbourne. Regent told me that the New Year's Eve event will begin at 7:45 pm and that the Australian Open excursion will leave the ship at 4 pm.

Ngaire, The Cruise Consultant on the World Cruise told me that everyone booked on the full circle Australia is automatically signed up for the New Years and Australian Open events. Do we still need to contact Regent? Jim

More misinformation on these events than anything I have ever seen. We have contacted Regent on behalf of everyone and were told that it had to be added. But once we added it nothing shows on the invoice. We figured we would put it on everyone's booking. They can always cancel and no harm done but some have excursions that conflict so we have contacted those people and they have to select the event or retain their excursion. So we are handling yours for you.

Do we need to do anything special for Australian Visa? Or, do we just show up at immigration and it gets put into our passport? Should I bring in a box of California oranges and a box of Hawaiian coconuts as gifts for the customs folks?

Nothing to do Marc. It’s an electronic visa that’s linked to your passport. As part of the cruise, Regent will get the visas for us before the cruise. Save your oranges and coconuts.

Regent will email a letter through KLT with a form you download, fill in and return. Regent will pay the visa fee for us.

Has anyone filled in the questionnaire we just received? I don't know how to fill in the transfer request; there is no choice for transfer from hotel to ship on 15th. Anyone have the same conundrum?
thanks,

This was on the email we got: Please note that if you plan on staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, on the morning of embarkation you will enjoy a light breakfast at the hotel prior to being transferred to Seven Seas Mariner.
and this is on the Preliminary Vacation Summary we received a day or so ago: 15DEC2018 Motor coach service from FOUR SEASONS HOTEL SYDNEY to SS MARINER
My question is: Will they do the cruise check-in at the hotel? That would save a lot of waiting in line at the terminal.

thanks,
Marc Marc, You're correct. All the choices appear to deal with transport from the airport to the pier or from the airport to the hotel on December 14. We have private Regent transportation from the hotel to the ship as part of our Titanium benefits. So I chose the first option (no transfer necessary) and double checked with Regent to ensure that the private Regent transportation still showed on my reservation which it did. You could check with Regent to ensure that your reservation shows a transfer from the hotel to the ship and then choose the No Transfer option on the questionnaire. However, if I didn't have the private Regent transportation, I would just take a taxi from the hotel to the ship. It's not very far and the fare should be relatively minimal. There will probably be 300 - 400 passengers using Regent transfers to the ship. Probably a real mess to avoid IMO.

I used the Titanium transfer for airport to hotel since that's a lot farther and more expensive. BTW, Australian taxis tack on an extra percentage for using credit cards and prefer cash.

Try Men's XL for you and Women's large for Arlene. If they don't fit right, they have plenty of spares to exchange for the size you want.

The Christmas decorations are up and it looks really festive aboard the Mariner. Looking forward to seeing the Roos in Bali. We are getting off in Sydney going home for Christmas then rejoining the ship for a great cruise down the west and south coast of Australia - a first for us. See you all soon.
