Anybody have any suggestions on shore excursions in either of these ports in Alaska?

I loved Hoonah. Everyone liked all the excursions. Changed a lot since we were first there. We did a salmon cooking excursion right on the dock. It was fun. The guide showed all there was to know about Salmon and then we cooked our own. Another time we took a small train (not on rails on wheels) along a waterfront, not exciting but beautiful. Some went fishing had a great day. Of course for the adventure seekers there is the new zip line. I think whatever you do you will enjoy your day.

Just saw this. Hoonah is One of our favorite ports in Alaska. George and Jerry did the zip line and loved it. I went on a bear watching excursion. We didn't see any bears on the excursion, but then on the bus on the way back to the ship, a bear walked out in the road and just sat down in front of the bus. We joked that they must keep a tame one in a cage there and let it out if none are seen on the excursion so the guests will not say they didn't see a bear.
The area around the port is really nice with lots of shops and a good bar where you can sit out on a deck with a huge bloody mary.

In Wrangell, we did a very strenuous hike, not for the faint of heart. I was really sore the next day and got over 25,000 steps.

Thanks Rachel.

We signed up for the Wildlife and Bear search in Hoonah, and the Stikine River and Glacier Lake in Wrangell.
