We get in the evening of the 18th--only one short layover in Atlanta.
We're staying at the Sheraton Dubai Creek.

We appear to be spread all over the place!

I was on the Atlanta flight until Delta decided to stop flying it on Sundays. Instead I'm on Lufthansa's A380 to Frankfurt then a 747 to Dubai after a 4 hour layover. From what I've read about Frankfurt, it might take me that long to get from one gate to the next wink

I wanted to let everyone know a couple of things since I just flew into Abu Dhabi.

When you check in at the airport for your flight have a copy of your Regent cruise info handy as they may ask to see it. The UAE needs you to prove that you're leaving when you come in on a one-way flight. At least that's what happened to me when I left Sydney. I just pulled up my itinerary on my phone but this way you'll be prepared in case they ask.

Make sure your electronics are charged too. When I arrived I had to send my carryon stuff through an X-ray machine and you can be randomly selected to be screened and turn on your electronics. I don't remember having to put my bags through last year when I flew into Dubai, so this may be something new or just at AUH.

The weather is lovely. Hope you all have safe, on time travels!

Those of you staying at Al Maha are in for a real treat. We spent several nights there in 2011 after a Voyager cruise. The suites are wonderful and we had the Oryx all around our building in the early mornings and evenings. At that time, they had a French chef and the food was fantastic.

Have a great time!

Glad to hear Jamie and Dana will take over from Ray. Certainly pros at what they do and no Harry Potter questions for trivia. Sounds like the Voyager is ready for us with good food and drink.

hopefully we will get good lecturers on this segment. They shouldn't have any trouble getting good people who want to get out of the cold weather in the US. Can't believe it is finally here. 2 years of planning is a long time. Actually looking forward to going back to India. I think I will enjoy it better the second time now that I know what to expect. They best part is seeing all of you again. Its fun to travel with people you know and like. Safe travels everyone.

Hanging out in the lounge now. Only 15 minutes to check in, go through security and get to the lounge....a new record for me.
I agree with pammy, it's been a long time coming and I'm eager to see my friends again.
Almost time for SPICE seamail!

I've made it to the Business lounge in Frankfurt😃

The A380 is a great plane. Lufthansa's business class seats really need some improvement though.

Just a few hours and my flight to Dubai leaves. Then I'll meet Andrea at the Grand Hyatt.

We're also heading out at 2:30 this afternoon-- Delta to Atlanta and then on to Dubai. I think we're all packed and ready to go. We're getting out just in time -- it's COLD here.

Today is Burj day...Burj al Arab for tea and Burj Khalifa in the evening.

So happy to be here!

We arrived here at the Premier Inn Dubai airport at 2am. Great flight with Qantas 380.

This is a perfect hotel for its purpose. We've just had a cup of coffee at the reception lobby Costa Coffee, now waiting for our lift to the Al Maha where we'll met up with Pam and Jim.

Looking forward to 3 days of luxury and fun.

See you all on Friday.

"Burj day" was a success! Best table for high tea at the Burj al Arab then best table for dinner and fountain show at Atmosphere on the 123rd floor of Burj Khalifa.
Not bad for my first 24 hours!

Made it to Paris. Easiest connection ever as we went from 2 E M hall to 2 E L hall; no immigration. Nice lounge. Boarding soon for Dubai. See everyone in a couple of days.

We are in Dubai! What a beautiful city. Flights were ATL to CDG to Dubai and easy, probably the easiest connections we have ever had. When we arrived late last night the immigration lines were long, but one gentleman looked at my passport and sent us around all the lines to a counter behind a drape, our passports were stamped and we were on our way. We were in our pjs in our hotel room in about an hour from touchdown! Today we are at the Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah and it is wonderful. Marc and I are relaxing, catching up on emails and adjusting to the time change. Life is wonderful! Sort of wished we had set up a dinner for tonight with everyone like before other cruises, but as we will have 30 days together, I suppose we can wait to see everyone until tomorrow.

We added some new stamps to our passports today by traveling through several of the Emirates and into the Musandam peninsula of Oman. Jawdropping gorgeous scenery, dolphins and pretty nice snorkeling. It was a very long day but worth it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow (and finally unpacking)!!

We flew Qatar for the first time. Seat was great, lie flat and adjusted in every possible way. Food still airplane food but better tha BA first class. Lovely flight attendants. The lounge here in Doha is amazing. Huge with great food options. We ate from a menu and shared a mushroom and chicken pasta and we both had salmon with vegetables. Ken indulged in a New Zealand wine he really liked. In a less formal area the lounge had sandwiches made to order from a large variety of ingredients and would make hot sandwiches if requested. Plus all the salads and desert to go with that. The best lounge I have ever experienced. We are in the quiet area a private room about 20ft by 12ft total privacy. Ken is taking a nap and I am playing on my iPad. Plus none of those sky high taxes for going through London. I think Qatar is my first choice in the future. Stunning airport too, sparkling new and seems like there are no people here. Pretty happy with this trip.
