Ho-Down, Fiesta and now ????

We are planning another event for mid October, 2012 with a preliminary date of October 19 – 22, 2012 that will take place in Dallas. We need a NAME for the event so we are posting this information pretty early so LCT can do a naming contest and we can work with that name from the beginning. "2012 Event" is not that exciting. So can you all put your brains in gear and get me a great name please?

WAITING LISTS IN THE PAST

For both Ho-Down and Fiesta we had a waitlist and some could not attend. First come first served is not really fair and that we need to have some parameters for attendance. It has been very difficult and uncomfortable for me to have to say NO to people who want to come in the past. Not a great program if I upset my clients! So some parameters were decided in discussions with Regent.

In order to attend you need to be a past Regent Guest or have a cruise booked on Regent and be a current BK client. Email me or post on LCT your interest in attending. Some of you are already on a list as you expressed an interest if another event of this nature were to happen. I have those names no need to respond again. Remember the main party is hosted by Regent and Brown and Keene however there is a cost to attend such as your airfare, hotel rooms, and if you wish participate in the optional activities the costs involved will be paid by each person. Things happen that prevent us from doing things we wish to do so I understand if your plans can change but please do not request to be on the list if you do not sincerely believe there is a good chance you will attend.

If there are less than a 100 names then everyone can come that wishes to attend. However, if there are more than 100 names, in the discussions with Regent it was decided to limit the list to those persons that have sailed on Regent in 2012 or are booked to sail in 2012 or 2013. This is a REGENT sponsored program and is a “thank you” to their valued and active guests. If that does not cut the list to 100 people more parameters will be applied those additional parameters are not defined at this point as they may not be necessary. Once we are at a list of around 100 people we will send an invitation with full details to those people first. If space is not all taken we then take off some of the applied parameters to allow more to attend. This will not happen until probably two to three months before the event.

The limit is 100 guests plus Regent and BK Staff. If there is more space than names I will open it up again on LCT for anyone else who wants to come.

I do not like this idea of parameters to attend as I know people I would love to have there but for various reasons are not travelling with Regent now. However, after much contemplation it was decided that this is the fairest and most sensible way to handle it for all concerned.

EVENT PRELIMINARY DETAILS – Primary Organizer Clay Keene

The party on a Saturday night will be held at Clay Keene’s home in Frisco. Clay has a huge custom made smoker/grill and will be cooking a true Texas Barbeque with all the trimmings. His barbeque is sensational trust me on that!

In his game room upstairs we plan to have a casino night– two black jack tables, one crap table and a No Limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament, he also has a pool table. No real gambling but prizes for the winners.

For those that just want to visit we will have the downstairs area to mingle.

OPTIONAL EVENTS
Preliminary stages no further details yet.

Golf tournament at the Stonebriar Country Club

VIP visit to Texas Stadium home of the Dallas Cowboys, see the press box, private suites, locker rooms, and walk on the field!

Possibly a dinner on Sunday night at the Stonebriar Country Club depending on how many stay over and wish to attend this on Sunday

Golf and Texas Stadium tour days will depend on availability of space for both events on each day. Probably be on the Friday and Saturday

Pooch and Hearts tournament for those who want to play

Accommodations – Westin Hotel, Frisco, Texas
Clay is negotiating with the Westin Hotel (Starwood property) for a special room rate. This is right next to Stonebriar Country Club and the golfers and those staying for the Sunday night dinner can walk to the Country Club so no transportation necessary. Plus it is about 2 -3 miles from his house. The Westin is also a Starwood Property so some may use Starwood Points or Points plus cash.

So those are the preliminary details and I need those brains working for a GREAT name for this event

I just started a roll call so people can sign on. Important since the #'s are limited and parameters apply. Here is the roll call:

If we do the above activities that would be great. But if indeed we get in a day early would like to visit Dealey Plaza. When living and working in Washington, DC, I recall how we all agonized at the Dept. of Labor awaiting word from Dallas. Several days later I was activated for the day along with my Marine Corps Reserve Infantry platoon to March in the President's funeral procession and the sights and sounds of that day are still very much with me.

SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM AT DEALEY PLAZA
Re-creation Of the Kennedy's Assassination

Address: 411 Elm Street Dallas 75202 United States

This is a permanent exhibition of the tragic events leading up to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The museum was opened in 1989, and is located in the Texas School Book Depository building, where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot the late President. Displays include a moving overview of the time period, and the life and accomplishments of the 35th President of the United States. Enlarged police photographs, news footage, and audio cassettes allow visitors to re-visit the tragic events of November 22, 1963. Who knows who shot JFK (the Warren Commission notwithstanding), but it will give you pause seeing that Oswald's alleged shots may have been easier than photography or newsreels would indicate. Audio cassette tours are available in French, Italian, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, in addition to English. Special audio tours are designed for children ages 6-12.

And since we are flying SWA, I plan on bringing my golf clubs as bags fly free with them. And I want to see how many bad shots I hit before somebody in my foresome gives me a "head-slap."

What fun!

Cheers! Ray

Ray I would be interested in that museum as well. Didn't have time for it during Ho Down, maybe I can work it in this trip.

I remember when Ho Down was in the planning stages Ngaire didn't think there was that much to do in Dallas but I certainly think we'll all be quite busy with all the activities we have planned this go round. BBQ, Golf, Pooch, Hearts, Stadium tour, Dealy Plaza, Shopping and lets not forget just seeing everyone! It won't be a lazy weekend as we'll be busy for sure!

If anyone runs out of things to do during the event, both Dallas and Fort Worth have several world class art museums and don't forget, there's the Fort Worth Stockyards and Billy Bobs for a little rodeo and Cowtown fun. In between Dallas and Fort Worth, Arlington has Six Flags over Texas a Wax Museum and a great water park. Don't worry, there's plenty to do here.
