I received an email this morning advertising a "sale" at Starwood properties. Starwood properties "sale" info

The ALOFT Plano is one of the properties with a rate of $59 a night prepaid/non-refundable, BUT the special is not available for our dates (well, MY dates of November 13-15) probably due to our pushing up the occupancy rate ;) . However, I did see that the AAA rate I booked way back when has dropped about $10 a night so I cancelled my original reservation and re-booked.

The "birthday" rate was higher for me than AAA so don't know if this new rate is better for some of you or not.

Just a heads up!

Woo hoo! I posted elsewhere that we actually cancelled and rebooked a non-refundable, prepaid rate of $67.20 per night plus tax. Not sure if that would benefit anyone else here but thought I'd chime in with that. It's saving us around $50 from our original reservation.

Aloft, LOOK OUT!!!!!!!! Here we come

We're paying AAA rate $67.15 plus tax and it is refundable...not that we have any intention to cancel this. yeehaw!

Good catch on the rate reduction. It doesn't help me but I did some calculations and anyone born after 1951 will save money with the special or AAA rate of $67.15 plus tax.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in Plano next week.

The nonrefundable rate is now at $59 plus tax for our dates 11/13 - 11/15, so I canceled and rebooked.

Thanks Leslie! I never got around to rebooking at the new rate the other day so this works out well for me.

I just tried to put the Aloft's address into my gps and it's not accepting it. The address they give is North Dallas Parkway but my gps only has Dallas North Tollway. Even when I google the address they give, google maps can't find it?

Anyone else using a gps?

Karen,

In my Garmin GPS, "6853 N Dallas Pky" works. Give it a try.

Dave, I just tried N Dallas and that won't work either. I just updated my maps the other day so I have no idea why it won't recognize the street. I guess I can see where the closest intersection is and program that in.

Editing to add, I think I figured it out. This is a new gps and it's different than my old one. I guess I don't have to put in North, East or West in a street name, it does it for you after I entered plain old Dallas Pky

Karen,

It certainly can be frustrating sometimes trying to find an address on a GPS. You have to use the exact abbreviations they use. Sometimes you have to find a spot on the GPS close to what you're looking for and see how the GPS spells the street name you want. The closest intersection to the Aloft is probably Bishop Road and Democracy Drive. Hope this helps.

Dave, I bought the same brand as I had last time and the old one wasn't as fussy with road names. This onedoes have a feature that Mark likes, you can choose from different voices and he likes the sexy lady named Dagmar ;) Our old one only had one voice and she practically yelled at us.

We jumped on the bandwagon, too, and changed to the prepaid rate. Savings will pay for a taxi or something. Thanks for whoever started this, Leslie, I think.

ok, ok ... I cancelled my Marriott reservation and booked at this funny aloft place. Already have 138 nights in Marriott this year, I guess I can give up 2. Thanks, Suzanne, for posting the info about the "sale"!

That is great Kim....you probably would have more peace and quiet at the Marriott but "House Party" atmosphere at Aloft will be fun- or did I mean Animal house???? ;) ;) ;)

Suzanne kicked off the re-booking frenzy; I have noticed that it really pays to recheck rates at hotel chains like Hyatts, Marriotts etc. - seems like I always find lower rates closer to the date of arrival.

Honestly, I don't think I've EVER paid $59 for a hotel room - at least not in the last 25 years...

Photos look kind of look like a college dorm room to me. Or maybe a cabin on Carnival!? haha .... But the point is to be where the party is! House party? or Animal party? right on!

Just don't expect luxury, folks. Photos are like statistics... you know the old saying. But, for $59 and a stay with "the luxury people", priceless!

Well for us the $99 + two nights at the rate of our birth year still work out to be the best rate, maybe only $25 or so total, but it works out about the same as $59 x 3 + tax, so we are happy.

Ok - I steered everyone over to aloft from Hyatt Place - but now we're at the Hyatt Place ($71 rate for 1 night - other night on free promotional night that I got). We also get 1/2 free night (Faster Free Nights) that we're planning on using at Park Hyatt Paris (rate or 750 Euros per night).

So is there anyone still at Hyatt Place?
