Please check in here if you are interested in going to Billy Bob's on Friday the 13th. Also mention how many hours you would like to stay. Ngaire has suggested this time frame: Arrive at Billy Bobs at 6.30 to 7.00 pm - dinner and dancing for those who want to dance for 2 hours. We're in for Billy Bob's - put us down for the whole shebang! We just have to determine whether we want to drive there on our own, or drive over to Dallas and catch the bus with y'all. I think we might make a weekend of it, get a pet sitter and stay at a hotel near Ngaire's like the rest of you. Because I am pretty sure that copious amounts of alcohol will be consumed, and we certainly don't want to be driving!!!
This is going to be SO FUN!!!!!!

It all depends on how long the bull riding takes to get going. If they have a bunch of horses running around introducing the riders that takes 30 minutes that slows things up. Karen you might ask that question when you contact them.
About 30 minutes of actual bull riding would really be plenty. The bus will be there so we could leave at anytime we like with a call to the driver to bring up the bus.
Everyone will be tired too so it is possible if they get the bull riding started quickly we could even leave earlier than 10.00 pm.
Those that Party Hearty can then fully utilize the bar at Aloft.

I am in big time! Marc hates C & W dancing but I love it so this is great for me! I am in for the dinner too, Real Texzs BBQ!
I will go with what everyone decides about the time to leave. Right now I am thinking I would like to stay until it closes (2 AM??) but I am sure when I get there, I will be so jetlagged that I will probably be lucky to make it to 10 or 11 :ohmy:
I will not have a rental car (too expensive beacuse we don't own a car over here, so we have no personal insurance and rental company's insurance is prohibitive) so the bus works for me. (Either that or I will have to hitch hike)
Also I will be staying at the Aloft. Arriving on the Thursday the 12the, leaving Monday th 16th.

Marcie, yes we will be on American, arriving at 2:50 pm. Maybe we can coordinate as we get closer and "hook up", but I've been warned by a friend's daughter that the meaning has changed "somewhat". :ohmy: Urban dictionary definition of "hook up" And I just noticed there is a local version "Hooking up Texas Style" but, um, I'm not posting that link. I hate to bum everyone out but the bull riding is on real bulls and only open to professional bull riders!
Does Billy Bob's Have A Mechanical Bull?
Contrary to what many people think we Do Not have a Mechanical Bull.
We prefer to have the "Real Thing" with our Live Bull Riding performances held every Friday & Saturday nights at 9 & 10 p.m. Admission is $2.50
Can Anybody Ride a "Real" Live Bull At Billy Bob's Texas?
NO! Bull riding is a dangerous sport. Competitors at Billy Bob's must be Pro or Semi-Pro athletes and carry a valid riders card from a recognized Bull Riders sanctioning organization such as your state PRCA, PBR, or other institution.
Bulls generally weigh 1,800 - 2,000 pounds (a real ton) compared to the weight of most bull riders at 150 pounds. Because of this, there are NO "Have a Few Beers & Ride A Bull" Whims at Billy Bob's Texas.

So what time do we have to schedule a plane to arrive at DFW to ensure that we're at the Aloft in plenty of time for the Billy Bob event?

Eugene - are you flying from IAD? We are on the AA 11:30 flight getting in at 1:40. I'm waiting to hear from TomG about their flight schedule, as they are flying from DCA I think. We are trying to coordinate a rental car, he already has one I think, but maybe we could all share a mini van or something.

I haven't made airline reservations yet. I think we'll fly from National a little later--I was going to work half a day. I was looking at the AA 12:40 PM or 1:25 PM departure (arriving at 2:50 PM or 3:40 PM). I also think we are returning about noon on Sunday, but as I said, I haven't committed.

I think we'll be on the American flight out of National that leaves at 12:40 and gets into DFW at 2:50pm. Maybe we can meet at the Admiral's Club or somewhere in the terminal before the flight.
