Thought I would start a new thread for posts from the trip. Maybe better here than SEAMAIL.
Ice, snow, sleet the day that it got really bad in Dallas was the day we were supposed leave. It has been cold with a little ice since Friday (in the 20's very cold for Dallas) but today the roads were white with snow and ice and the flights were cancelled or delayed.
Well Ken and I were about to walk out the door and we checked ONE MORE TIME - yes the flight is delayed. About an hour. Not bad if it holds. It looks like we will get out today just be delayed.
Leslie and Brad are coming in from Tuscon and they were having trouble getting out to fly to DFW. They were smart and changed to an earlier flight from Tuscon. We are going to be on the same plane from DFW. They are "in the air" though and will have no problems now making this connection with the delay in the DFW to BA flight.
We are supposed to meet Gerry and Peggy in Buenos Aires and we are going to go to Iguazu Falls together. It will be very tight now to make that flight but we might do it if there are no more delays.
Probably all will work out okay in the end. Will keep you posted.

Ngaire, I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you. I'm sure everything will work out just fine in the end. It's pretty cold here in HOuston but my area, close to Downtown just hovered around freezing so I was spared the worst.

I am so happy to hear this news! All I heard this morning was ice everywhere in Texas, and Leslie's post had me nervous! Have a great flight, and hope your luck holds to get to Iguazu Falls! I will be checking American's website to see if you make it!

Just posted over in sea mail with the gory details - we are in Dallas waiting for Ngaire & Ken in the Admirals Club. Yay! Time to cash in that free drink coupon!
(and we flew from Albuquerque - everyone always thinks New Mexico is Arizona!)

Hello everyone.
Here we are at IGUAZU FALLS. The plane was only delayed one hour and it all worked out fine. We figured out where to store our cruise luggage fairly easily a tthe Domestic airport in BA and then off to join Gerry and Peggy at the gate. I do believe they were glad to see us!!
Flight was fine and we arrived at the Sheraton Hotel around 3.30 pm. Quick change of clothes and off to the train to visit the falls. Well it was lovely when we left and as we started to walk to the train some dark clouds came over. Right as we arrived at the little station, thunder and heavy downpours of rain. We thought it would blow over fairly quickly however it just kept coming down. The train is open so you would get soaked going home and from the train to the hotel is a good 5 to 10 minutes walk so we figured we were going to get soaked anyway. Once you are completely wet how much wetter can you get anyway.
They were selling ponchos in the store so Ken ran over and got four ponchos and we decided to go see the falls. Just as we put on our ponchos it stopped. We figured we are blessed.
The metal walkway out to the falls is well done. It took about 10 minutes to get there and the falls here are really quite spectacular. Easy to view and a LOT OF WATER.
All waterfalls are different and we have seen some great ones in our travels. There are up there amongst the best. I cant remember the names right now but one waterfall in NORWAY where the horses and buggys can take you up with the glacier at the top of the waterfall and also the falls out of PUERTO MONTT in Chile were also pretty neat.
We made it back in one piece and although slightly damp certainly not drenched. Then we cleaned up and had an early dinner and enjoyed the company of Gerry and Peggy.
This morning the boat trip was on the agenda but I think we are all feeling a little lazy today so we had a leisurely breakfast and will be heading off the airport shortly. Cant wait to see everyone in BA.
Be back later

Ngaire - if you got drenched, you already got the idea of the boat trip! LOL!!
So glad you made it to Iguazu Falls. Safe trip back to BA this afternoon.
Cheers, Anne

Ngaire, it never fails. The minute you bite the bullet and buy the ponchos it stops raining. Glad you got to see the falls.
