No Bar at the Embassy Suites. They put out a catering type bar for evening appetizers.

Kathy, so there's no bar in their Italian restaurant on the premises?

The Embassy Suites we stayed at did not have a bar. Come to think of it, did not have an Italian restaurant either. It was next to the mall that has Saks 5th Avenue, Dillards and some other stores in it.

Kathy, I don't think you must have stayed at this Embassy Suites. Perhaps it was another chain? The ones in Boca-Deerfield both have restaurants and lounges as well. They are the other ones closest to FLL.
Anyway, just to make sure, I called the hotel directly and was connected to the restaurant, Salute. He assured me they do have a bar, and that it is open until mid-night.
So we are good to meet, late night TAP'ers!

If there's no bar at the Italian restaurant, then we'll just have to be resourceful. I don't think that will be a problem w/ this group. <img border="0" alt="[beer]" title="" src="graemlins/beer.gif" />

We would be happy to join you on the 5th at Latitudes. Also curious about what we might do with a private guide in Casablanca. Others have said there is not much to do in the city but I just looked online and the Hassan II mosque looks very nice.

Ngaire, While I have arranged lots of private tours for Doug and moi, I have never arranged trips for LCT folks before. Denise has always taken the lead or Kathy in Alaska. I hope I learned well from these ladies.

Andi,
I know you will put together a great tour group. If we were on a cruise together, I'd be 1st in line to do whatever you put together. :ch:

Tina, please go look at your private mail. I sent you the prices and things to do and see. BTW, what is "Mom's" first name?
I must tell you I am leaning to Rabat over Casablanca. I have been googling and reading alot about both and Rabat seems to come out the winner. Perhaps we can just ask the driver to go by the Mosque in Casablanca so we can take photos? I will also book lunch for the group both days...traditional Moroccan fare...I will make sure it is a la carte in case there are dietary restrictions or someone just doesn't like Moroccan food and would prefer to snack and eat when back on the ship.

Things are getting a bit dicey in Casablanca over the past few days. At what point does Regent make decisions to alter itineraries based on these types of events? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18106013/ Anyway, just a little over 2 weeks to go. Tonya and I cannot wait to meet everyone at the Embassy Suites and on board!

We were thinking the same thing John, although we have 6 months yet before CROSS, we were talking about that this morning.
Will be interesting to see what happens on TAP and if they alter the itinerary. Keep us posted.

We, too, have been discussing this terrible chain of recent events and it's impact both for TAP and, possibly CROSS, itineraries.
When we were anticipating our Greece/Turkey cruise a few years ago, there was similar upheaval in Turkey. We went back and forth as to whether or not Kusadasi and Istanbul would be scratched from our itinerary. Fortunately, both ports remained.
Hopefully, things will calm down both for the people of Morocco as well as the TAPpers.

I am getting a little concerned myself about Morocco being scratched. The last time I did a cross was 1 month after 9/11 and Morocco was scratched. And besides the great group of LCTers on this trip, the chance to finally see Morocco was the main reason I chose this trip. I would hate to see it taken away again, but I also want to be safe. I don't remember exactly when they removed this country - hey, I getting old & the memory is going - but I think we didn't know until after we boarded the ship. We got an extra day in Funchal and a free tour because of the cancellation.

I looked on the State Department website and they haven't added Morocco to the warning list for American visitors.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the Tappers.

I believe the breakfast plan has changed. I think the IHOP plan has been scratched, and since so many are staying at the Embassy Suites, we are just going to meet there for breakfast.

Just an update from an email I received from John Barron today. Change of plans, he will NOT be your CD for TAP, Lorraine Barron will be the CD (no relation). John was able to extend his vacation as they're in the process of changing houses. Little "John Luke" is progressing perfectly and Lynsay is feeling good (he's due Sept. 25).
John wanted me to extend his regrets to so many he was looking forward to seeing again. He will be rejoining on July 14th till September 3rd. Unfortunate for us as well, as we were looking forward to getting to see him the morning of April 30th! Anyway, I'm sure Lorraine Barron and assistant CD Paul will do a terrific job as well.

We sailed in Canada New England with Lorraine Barron - she is a real sweetheart. We enjoyed her company very much. Joann and I corralled her for dinner one night. We had a situation onboard where the main dancer/singer got sick and she had to fill in with improvised shows. She did a great job. If we did not know from talking to her, we would not have known!
Ngaire, Please say hi for us to her!

We've had Lorraine twice, on the Canada/New England, and she came on in Barcelona to be on for six weeks when we were on WINE. She is a delightful, talented lady and we always enjoy seeing her. I'm sure you TAPers will also enjoy her. She and her husband met when they were both dancers on RSSC, and her husband is a Dr now and they live in North Carolina, and she comes on for six to eight week periods to fill in a couple of times a year.

YEs, Lorraine is a very nice person. Hard to beat John that is for sure but she will be a good substitute. I dont think she does this all the time she just fills in when necessary.
