Hey y'all from an Internet place in Key West. Navigator still doesn't have any kind of internet service, maybe on or about the 10th. They are still upgrading the service.
We are having a great time. Ngaire, the cruise consultant is Laurie, who we met a couple of years ago on Voyager. She sends her love, she's such a sweetheart.
I've about used up my $5 worth, so I'll try to check in when we get service back. Oh, the World is docked here today.
Laytah!

Hey Pam! Thanks for checking in. At least we won't be expecting too much seamail from the Navigator this week. Happy Sailing!

Pam - Great to hear from you and sorry it's not easy to post sea mail from the ship.
Hope the weather is fine and glad you reconnected with Laurie. Bette and Marty send you their best.

Hi, We are boarding the Voyager in Hong Kong for segment 3 of the world cruise and would really appreciate it if someone on board right now could tell us if Robert the Concierge is still on board. We heard a rumor that he has left RSSC. Thanks so much ---------------------------------------------

Pam...it's so disappointing to find out that they don't have internet service yet - it must be difficult for passengers who board expecting this service, especially when you find out that they haven't had it since mid December!
Hope everything else is going well - and you won't have to read this thread when you get home.
I wanted to also recommend that if you enjoy spa treatments, Kerry does a wonderful facial and Pascal is a wonderful stylist - on our 6 week cruise I needed a haircut and he did terrific job.
I'm sure you're finding lots to do. Please say hello to Mimi for me....I'm doing my Sudoko every morning - just wish I was meeting her and others in Portofino for breakfast at the same time!

Pam thanks for checking in. I hope you have a great time.
This is not good news about the internet. Gil and I board on the 27th and I need a way to keep in touch with my kids, other then paying the ridiculous phone fees. If you see this Pam, does the Navigator have cell phone service?

Hello from the Navigator! We got internet service back this morning, and every suite gets five free hours for our patience. There ARE supposed to be "hot spots" but I don't know yet where they will be. I'll hopefully know more before we get off. Arlene, my Cingular phone registered with a Mexican service and I could get through to my voicemail (just couldn't remember how to access it, but I think it was from Rich).
We had dinner with Guiseppe (hotel director, and I'm sure I have mangled his name) night before last. What a conversationalist! Ngaire, he sends his love. Suzie and Marilyn had dinner with the captain; they told him that they are Ngaire's children and that he should take very good care of them.
I had to teach my stewardess the difference between feather and not-feather pillows, before we accumulated every pillow she could find. She was trying hard, but had no idea what I was talking about.
Last night's deck barbeque was cancelled because of thunderstorms that kept tormenting us, but the mariachi band played in several areas including the dining room.
Ricardo has ordered a gallon of cinammon ice cream for our table, for tonight. That's going to be interesting, because (1) we are having a party in our suite at 6:00, (2) the SSS cocktail party is tonight. We are going to have to be rolled back to our suites.
Cozumel looks bad. We'll be going onshore later today, so I'll let you know what I see.

Hi Pam,
I'm glad that you got your internet back. I think it's a nice gesture that they are giving passengers 5 free hours for the inconvenience. This past summer we were on Navigator and for days didn't have internet access but didn't get anything like that. Maybe the difference was that we didn't have access due to the area where we were traveling in.
Enjoy the cinammon ice cream!

Pam,
Glad to hear that internet access was restored. It will be interesting to know where the wifi hot spots are. I may need to bring my laptop with me on PINA COLADAS.

Hi Pam, Good to hear from you. It sounds like your cruise is going great. BTW, who is your captain? We thought "Alfa Romeo" was a real charmer. Continue to have a wonderful time on your cruise and send more seamail when you can.

Alfa Romeo is our captain, and he's a stand-up comedian, isn't he? We had a cocktail party in our suite last night, and then went on to the SSS party (but didn't eat or drink there). Just couldn't face the Dining Room, but Suzie and Marilyn were brave troops and went to dinner. The encountered the captain, and chatted with him for a minute or two.
The internet is faster today; we are almost to Belize. I still don't know where the hot spots will be, but I'll endeavor to find out before the 17th.
The Cozumel shopping area was bustling; there were either six or seven ships in port yesterday. I managed to tear myself away from one of the most gorgeous tanzanite pendants I had ever seen, and so far I'm okay with that. We are about to drop anchor in Belize, don't know what we are going to do. They keep stressing that all of these shore excursions are for people who are in GOOD physical shape, and to bring insect repellant.

Pam - thanks for checking in here. I sure do hope you're taking care of the ship for us. Make sure you tell Giussppi that he has to give special attention to the LCT members on the Jan 27 sailing! ;)
It seems like there will no No WiFi access In the staterooms, is that correct? Are there signs up showing the hotspots yet?
WHat is the entertainment like on there right now? I assume the same people will still be on Jan 27. Band? Singer? Comic? Piano Player? What kind of music is the DJ playing? And most important, I hope the casino games are generous! :nw:
Keep enjoying!

The hot spots are reportedly going to be the Library, the Navigator Lounge, and the Vista Lounge. None in any cabins because it would be to difficult to wire. And don't get your hopes up about any kind of speedy internet; ain't happenin'.
Gil, the casino isn't opening until late every evening, and by the time we get through an extended dinner, we just go to bed. I played a few of the machines the day we were on our way to Cozumel, didn't find any generous ones, but haven't played at the tables at all. Now I know that I need a few sea days on my cruises.
I don't know anything about the entertainment/shows, either, because they have been starting at about 10:00. Kenny Smiles is tonight at 9:30, we might try to get to that one since Suzie and Marilyn are such "good friends" with him.
Quite frankly, I am having a problem not having the experienced European stewardesses. The little Filipino girl (she looks about 14) is trying her best and is always cheerful, but I had to teach her the difference (by feel) between feather pillows and non-feather. Our deck chair cushions are left out in any kind of weather, when they have always been brought in at night before.
We are at an industrial-type port in Santo Tomas, Guatemala, today. It's still early so I don't know if we plan to get off.

Pam I had same problem on Voyager in October - it took 4 days to get our sweet girl to understand I wanted extra padding over our mattress - the egg carton thing or a duvet cover - every day I'd come back no cover - finally got a gal who could understand me and she had it done - wasn't a big deal but by day 4 I was I getting little annoyed -

Pam,
Your experience with the stewardess is very similar to our on our Bermuda Navigator cruise. Ours was not very good, and everything we wanted/needed required multiple requests.
I was hoping things would be better later this month, but after your experiences, I will not hold my breath.

I agree, I miss the European Stewardesses and their attendants. While our stewardess did a good job cleaning and restocking the room, she usually didn't get to it until after lunch even if I put the service please sign out at 8 am. That was a bit of a bother since when the third passenger bed is out, it takes up all the floor space. She also didn't seem to grasp that if you have 3 guests, you need 3 sets of towels.

My Post disappeared.
Kenny Smiles is terrific. I sure hope he is still on the ship when we sail.
I am not thrilled about these stewardess issues. Did any of you make your requests to Housekeeping rather than to the non-understanding stewardess?

Yes I called housekeeping after day 3 - a girl came down with cabin stew and explained it to her I thought they'd do it then - - still took till next day for it to happen!!

Gil,
We did not. We just kept pressing the issue until we got what we wanted. One thing that really irritated us was her unwillingness to refill our ice bucket. We constantly had to ask and compalin.

Didn't refill the ice bucket? That one I have never heard before. That is ridiculous. I sure hope that one's not on PINA COLADAS, or at least some training has been effective.

Today we are docked in Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras. RSSC did one of those neato things that make us love them even more. They lined up a bunch of buses/vans, and took us to Coral Cay Marine Park for a Beach Barbeque.
They served hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, steaks and LOBSTER! Many, many lobsters, and they were so good. Our Compass Rose waiter flagged us down as we got there, and assured us that he had "our table" all prepared for us. And he did.
Coral Cay is immaculately clean, the beach is pure white, and they told me the water was great (I didn't go that far). It was really, really done well.
Tonight is Marilyn's (Suzie's sister) birthday; we are having a "surprise party" for her at dinner.

Yesterday was Costa Maya; that's an interesting setup, isn't it? The prices were really high, and everybody closed up at 1:00 although we didn't sail until 5:00.
Today is a sea day, and we are rocking and rolling. Lots of seasick people, including Mark. I don't know when he started getting seasick because he never did when we were chartering sailboats.
Today is when we are scheduled to celebrate our anniversary, but I have no idea what they do. Last night, we were discussing bailing on Formal Night and going to Portofino instead. I haven't seen any of our group yet, so I don't know what we are doing. Rich sets it all up for us.
I have to spend our onboard credit today. Fun!
