For those who are familiar with the layout of the Voyager, a new forward viewing station is being added on Deck 12. A railing is being added to the area forward of the slanted glass windscreens... right over the top of the Observation Lounge.

This will provide a prime outdoor viewing/camera area looking forward...something the Voyager has lacked when compared to the Mariner.

Lars Olsson told me that Capt. Dag was having it done on his own...without seeking Miami's approval.

I like his agressive attitude..."don't ask a question if you can't stand a 'no' answer" ... or, "better to take action and seek forgiveness later."

Construction is underway and looks to be about halfway complete.

But I don't think I would have been using it much this afternoon in our run up the river entering Shanghai...it was cloudy and 50 degrees...with a very stiff wind even at slow speed. I was thankful for the protection that the windscreens provided...which wasn't too much. But what a sight! We are on the port side facing Pudong and the lights are coming on...should be a great 3-1/2 days!

Larry, this is great news! That was one thing that really bothered us about Voyager was that there was no good place for the passengers with outdoor forward views, you had to be staff or crew to get those views! Thanks for letting us know.

Larry, that must have been some strong wind to be noticed by someone from the windy city. :) Have fun!

That's great news. We had a great days for photography sailing on WAVE last year and we had to take photos between the "bars" at the front.
