All our fun times continue. Night before last we had our big Asian dinner. It was lots of fun.. I borrowed a wig from the costume department here on board and made myself look like a Oriental Kabuki lady (I think that’s what they call these ladies with the white faces, red lips and cheeks etc ???.) There were about 50 of us at this dinner because we included several of the officers, CD John and several entertainers, (They are all such fun!). Even Captain Philippe stopped by! The Chinese gift exchange was a riot…I brought a “Rally Monkey†wearing a Peru tee-shirt (bought him in the Lima airport) that ended up being the hit of the gift exchange. I lost count of how many times he was stolen back and forth! It was really a fun evening. Once again the staff outdid themselves decorating LaVeranda restaurant for our private party. There were Oriental fans, paper lanterns, ceramic elephants and even a straw hat at each seat. The room looked fantastic and the food was equally wonderful.
Yesterday we had a Los Marineros complimentary excursion to a Costa Rica rainforest. It was a great trip. We rode in small aerial gondolas that held 6 of us plus a knowledgeable guide. The ride through the rain forest lasted about an hour and we saw so much! At times we were quite low gliding through the vegetation and other times we were hundreds of feet in the air looking down on the rain forest. We saw some beautiful birds, an aunt eater and many beautiful butterflies. After our ride, we had a very nice lunch while listening to a string quartet. After lunch we were each given a small ventilated envelope with a live butterfly inside. The custom is to make a wish and release the butterfly into the forest. It was really a special feeling as you watched your beautiful butterfly flutter away. Just a great excursion!
Last night we had a birthday cocktail party celebrating the Mariner’s 5 year birthday. They also made the formal announcement of the name change from Radisson Seven
Seas to Regent Seven Seas. After the birthday party we ate in Compass Rose at a table for 10….we closed CR down once again being the last table to leave. Then off to the casino and Stars. I made it an earlier night and went to bed around midnight. Tom lasted longer…. never heard him come in as I was deep in dreamland.
This afternoon we’re having the “Country Fair†on the pool deck. These are always fun and the weather is perfect today.
RSSC Executive VP Christian Sauleau will be coming aboard on Saturday and we’ve been invited to eat dinner with him Saturday night. It will be nice seeing him again. The last time we saw him was when we ran into him at LAX of all places.
Olivia, Kenny Smiles disembarked yesterday in Costa Rica. I know several of you had asked about him. I’m not sure where he was off to or when he’ll return to the Mariner. He and his wife did stop by our private Asian dinner party for a cocktail but unfortunately, they didn’t stay for dinner.
Well, this is about all my news. I’m posting just a couple of pictures for you from the Asian party and the Rainforest yesterday.
