Hello from a day at sea…… Here we are, not sure where but arrive at Devil’s Islandm French Guinia day after tomorrow. Devil's Island was a prisoner's camp (now closed). Maybe you've seen the movie Papillon.
Yesterday afternoon we had a great complimentary excursion for all the full South America passengers to the Sunbury Plantation House….gorgeous huge home over 300 years old. After touring the home (a museum now) we sat at tables where lots of finger food was served and the Barbados Police band played for about an hour (wonder who was minding the island?). The servers wore“Aunt Jemima†type costumes and there was even a bride (Plantation Owner’s daughter). It was all so nicely done.
While in Barbados we had some company with other ships docked next to us…..Easy Cruise, Wind Surf, Sea Dream II and Royal Clipper. Don’t know much about these ships but from our balcony we could look into the outdoor bar on the Royal Clipper (it’s a ship with sails) and it looked like everyone was having a good time….very casual and a real party atmosphere.
Bruce Meadows reboarded the ship yesterday. Many may know him from the Peter Grey performers. What a nice guy! He was on the Seabourn pirate attacked ship so it was interesting hearing his story. Last night we (12 of us) ate at the Captain’s table (the Captain must have dined in so we got his table). After dinner a couple more friends squeezed in including Bruce Meadows so we lingered after dinner catching up on what he had been up to since the WC. Always lots of fun and laughs at these leisurely dinners that we enjoy (Mrs. Moose can’t stand them). Sambuca was flowing!
They are having 2 nights of special dinners at Latitudes starting tomorrow night for all the full SA passengers. There are so many of us that it’s divided into 2 nights. It is a “Amazon Jungle†theme so this should be fun as they transform Latitudes into a jungle. We’ve been invited to dine in this “Amazon Jungle†tomorrow night at a table with both the Captain and the Hotel Director. Tonight we’ve been invited by friends to eat at Signatures. Thursday we are having dinner with Ann and Terry Speed. My favorite dinner is coming up Sunday night…..Ngaire & Ken and Joanna & Tony! Tom and I are so excited they’re joining us!
My sea days continue to be busy….bridge, trivia twice a day, arts and crafts, , Texas Hold’em, bingo….the usual! Word has traveled around about the Texas Hold ‘Em game each day and we have several new players coming today. Should be about 11 players. I still don’t have any good stories to share as I did on the WC. On that there were so many characters and always good gossip….nothing quite like that here, YET! :D

It sounds like a perfectly wonderful trip, Marcie. So glad the Texas Hold 'Em daily activity is underway.
Give our best to Joanna, Tony, Ken & Ngaire when they come aboard.
Thanks for keeping the sea mail coming. We love it!
Cheers, Anne

Sounds great Marcie - you and Tom always have so much fun and meet so many interesting people, and your posts are just the most fun to read. I'm sure that when Joanna and Tony, and Ken and Ngaire join you this weekend things will really start to rock!! Have fun!

Well at least now I know where we are LOL....we're floating off of Devil's Island. There are tenders running back and forth. It's raining so we're kind of waiting for a break in the weather before we go over and explore the island. It looks like it's clearing up a bit so we'll probably catch a tender soon. Sure sounds like an interesting island with its history!
