We’re just docking in Salalah, Oman. After today we’ll have 3 sea days in route to Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt then through the Suez Canal. From there all passengers go on an overnight trip to Cairo. We will be quite busy in Cairo with so many things planned, including going to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. This is a world famous museum and even includes possessions from King Tut’s tomb. Of course, we’ll see the Great Pyramids as well. From Cairo we go to Alexandria where we also overnight. I’m sure there will be lots to write about after visiting Egypt. After reading Anne (Cleo’s) great seamail, we’re really excited to see all of this for our first time to Cairo.
Latitudes has been transformed into an Arabian Nights theme. Frankie Holiday’s daughter is onboard and will be doing her belly dancing there each evening. She performed at the pool deck bar-b-que night before last and she is GREAT, a professional at Disneyworld. She was also onboard for the “Arabian Nights†theme 2 years ago and we’re so happy she’s back. We're eating at Latitudes tonight with 4 friends and wearing all our Muslim clothes. Tom will be wearing a long white dress with a red checkered head scarf. I'm wearing a Burkah like, long black, silkish dress with black scarf hiding most of my face. We bought these at the local souk (market) in Oman. This is one thing we really enjoy onboard. Whatever part of the world we're in, we wear their clothing to dinner a lot. It really adds to the fun seeing everyone dressed up in these "native" clothes. I've put my Chinese and Indian clothes to rest....now I'm looking quite Arabian.
Also sharing a funny picture taken a week or so ago. Our friend Joan was leaving the ship so we had a going away dinner party. All the women wore crowns and such and all the guys wore wigs!! It was so funny, even CD Jamie got into the act! Tom looked like a "has been" rock star with his sunglasses on. We ate in Compass Rose and the guys stole the show that night! In fact, yesterday there was a special April Fools edition of “Passages†with this photo of the guys in wigs on the cover.
I’ll share a couple of funny pictures for now and write more after Egypt.
